Today (Sunday 4th June) we welcomed local scout groups and their leaders to Arbroath lifeboat station.

Our visitors were shown round the station and our lifeboats and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions.

The visit may even have inspired some future crew members!!!

We hope everyone had a great day and would like to say a big thank you from all the crew for the kind donation !!!

Kinblethmont House by Arbroath will be open for Snowdrops and Winter Walks on Saturday & Sunday, 25 & 26 February, 10am - 4pm
Admission £5.00, children free.

The Nominated charity is our very own Leysmill Scout Group (31st Angus) 60%.

Kinblethmont is an historic estate which, with its advantageous elevated position, has been settled since Pictish times. In the centre is the Victorian mansion house surrounded by beautiful policy woodlands where specimen trees and snowdrops abound. Paths take you through the woods past the old pet cemetery, the remains of 16th century Kinblethmont and the walled garden with children’s play area. A longer walk will take you up around the solar park with spectacular views over to the Angus hills and the North Sea.

We welcome today's announcement from the Scottish Government that indoor youth work will be able to re-start with an indicative date of 31st August.

However, please remember that indoor face-to-face Scouting can only resume when we move to the yellow phase. The restarting face-to-face Scouting recovery group will look at the new guidance and consider next steps. We will let you know as soon as we can when phases may change, but for now, we are still in the amber phase.

Find out everything you need to do to get back together safely here: https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/scouts-at-home/getting-everyone-back-together-safely/

Lovely bit of information from Scouts Scotland relating to VE Day!

Today we're celebrating the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

It has been 75 years since fighting against N**i Germany came to an end in Europe - on 8th May 1945. Today we remember, give thanks, and celebrate the return of peace to Europe.

Did you know that Scouts played a role in the Second World War? They helped to welcome displaced people and refugees from all over Europe at train stations, and collected waste paper, metal, rubber and rags. They also helped as part of the Air Raid Precautions (ARP) by issuing and fitting gas masks, building shelters, acting as Air Raid Wardens, firefighting, guiding people to public shelters, and saving people from some 2 million homes that were destroyed by bombing raids.

Do you know someone who has memories from the war? Maybe you could give them a call to find out more about what it was like? Or, you can check out the VE Prepared activities from The Scouts here: https://www.scouts.org.uk/activities/ve-prepared/

We've been working away at updating our Scottish badges and awards to make sure they can be done from home.

First up, we have our Zodiac Awards! 🥳

If you were already working on your Zodiac Award or are planning to start soon, we've updated the requirements so you can work on them while staying safe at home.

If you've never heard of the Zodiac Award, or you've not been sure about trying it out - we've created the At Home Zodiac Challenge just for you! This will give you a taster of what the Zodiac Award is all about, and will help you on your way if you decide to take on the Bronze Award.

Check it all out here: https://www.scouts.scot/members/coronavirus-support/scouting-at-home/

Keep a look out - more updated badges and challenges coming soon 👀
