Today Pink spent all day in the hedge, and Ella stayed with her. I never expected these two old ladies to be the ones left but they've made a remarkable bond, weird but wonderful. As Pink fights for her life, Ella is grooming her aggressively. Pink tells me she's not going yet, but it's hard to ignore 5 days of not eating as she wastes away. I'm loath to continue forcing drugs down her (she's still able to fight!) but that's tomorrow's decision. I love my wee chickens way beyond what I thought was possible, and my heart is breaking, not just for her, but for me, and for Ella if she's left alone. They've had 8 and a half years, life expectancy of an ex-bat is 4, so we've done ok, but I can't imagine my life without her.
They're all out! Parents still busy feeding them...
It's not swallows it's fledging house martins! Don't know where from but they are having a ball!
The vet says my girls are probably too rotund to groom their feathery asses so I have to break up the new feather shafts where they can't reach. This is Pink all indignant after a grooming whilst Ella had a sly sunbathe
What Katy Did Next. Might love this one even more...
Ella and Pink inspecting the wall. It's very detail orientated.
Sally on quiet mode. I could hear her on the other side of the house but for some reason it doesn't record as loud so you may need to turn up your volume to hear her wonderful symphony...
Gary and Sally's nightly ritual
Goat sunbathing at 3 Loch Drive. They sell goats' milk ice cream....
What Katy Did On Retreat...
Good thing I'm not precious about my flower beds...
Pink in the peonies... She knows I'm watching...
