So in the last couple of months I’ve had 3 people variously describe my business as a “hobby job” a “little side hustle” and been told my husband must be the bread winner. Not only irritating but the last one downright misogynistic!
I know a lot of dog walkers have heard these sorts of things and I thought it was worth explaining what it really means to own a dog walking business

We are:

Accounting manager

Administration manager
Sales manager
Procurement manager
HR manager
Transport Manager
Logistics manager
Waste manager
Meteorologist

We are also:
Supporting our customers
Nurturing, socialising and enriching their pets
Providing an essential service and peace of mind to our customers
Supporting our local community

All while:
Supporting ourselves and families

So many people underestimate our job, those people will never understand what it takes to be a dog walker.

This week we welcomed this very handsome young man into the group walks. He’s been an absolute star and has made friends with all the other dogs. He has the sweetest nature and loves doing zoomies with all the runners in the group

So sick of potholes! Blew a tyre between lunch walks today so my lovely husband had to come and collect us all and transport home. It was a squeeze but nobody seemed to mind too much 😂🐾

After a truly awful few weeks, with the back injury and a horrific bout of covid that hit us all, I’m finally back to work tomorrow. Can’t wait to see the pups! Have missed them all so much. Also looking forward to some (blustery) fresh air! Cabin fever be gone! 😂😂🐾🐾

Hi all, instead of sending Christmas cards this year, I have made a donation on behalf of Active Paws to this Go Fund Me. Gary is our neighbour and has been diagnosed with MND. He will need adaptations made to his home going forward so that he can continue to be at the heart of his family when he is no longer able to get up and down the stairs. Gary and his partner, Nicola, have two young kids and need all the support they can get to make their family life easier when this awful disease starts to take his mobility and independence away. Have a read and if you feel you’d like to support them, I’m sure they’d appreciate it. Thanks you

THURSDAY/FRIDAY CLIENTS: I’m keeping a very close eye on the weather as Storm Babet approaches. As you all know, the dog’s welfare is my priority, but I also need to consider the road conditions, potential damage to the van and risk of injury as there is a considerable risk of roads being flooded. My current plan is to assess the roads tomorrow morning before making a decision on tomorrow’s lunch groups. On Friday it’s looking like I’ll need to cancel all walks. Will keep everyone informed but please be prepared for the walks being off. If you’d need a pop in/toilet visit for your dogs, can you let me know as soon as possible. If you feel that you can manage without your regular walks over the next two days, let me know. (There’ll be no cancellation fees for this) Thanks, Morag
