Thanks so much to those that sponsored me for yesterday's Kiltwalk from St Andrews to Dundee. Was a scorching day which made it tougher but managed in just over 6 hours. Raised £1300 for Down's Syndrome Scotland which is great.

Thanks hugely for those that have sponsored me for the Kiltwalk in a couple of weeks time going from St Andrews to Dundee. Almost at my target and was out yesterday pounding the miles to build up my fitness.

In a month's time I'm undertaking the Mighty Stride Kiltwalk from St Andrews to Dundee. This is to raise money for Down's Syndrome Scotland. As some of you may know my youngest daughter has Down's and the charity have been a great support to us and many others. Please give if you can afford it. Thanks!

Does anyone know of any garages in the west/central Fife area that handle Class 7 (ie, big vans!) vehicles? I know D&G do in Inverkeithing but not sure who else does.

Alan here. We are looking to rehome my parents' lovely springer Glen as they can no longer look after him. Here's a piece my sister (who is daft about him but lives in the U.S.) wrote for him....

Hello, my name is Glen. I'm a six-year-old springer spaniel with a vacancy for a new owner. I'm quite adorable and my previous owner loved me very, very much but sadly he has gone into a home and can no longer care for me. I am seeking a new family with strong arms that will throw my ball a thousand times a day. In return for this service I will follow you everywhere and shower you with love and cuddles.

I tend to pull on the leash at first when I go out. I'm so excited to go walkies I can't help myself. But after a run around I walk back perfectly. I'm used to being off-leash 90%of the time and need LOTS of daily exercise, preferably through woods, fields or the beach. I don't care about cats. I just ignore them. I'm untested around sheep but I don't think they would phase me either.
I am used to pack walks and I get on well with other dogs. Ideally, I'd like a doggy brother or sister but it's not essential. I'm good natured. I haven't been around young kids but I get on fine with older ones. If they can throw my ball then they're fine by me!
Although I'm still young and energetic I'm past the puppy stage and I'm quiet in the house. I can be left safely at home for a few hours but obviously I don't want to be alone all day. Who would? I like being around someone most of the time. Apart from chasing my ball I enjoy lying on my back with my feet in the air. I make a good pair of slippers and will keep your tootsies warm in winter.
To be honest I'm almost perfect. My only vice is stones. I will eat them if there's no ball for me.

If you think you're a good candidate to become my new parent please get in touch.

The Scottish Government is holding a consultation on proposed changes to petcare services and potential licensing. Personally, we're all for it and think those handling and looking after your furry pals should be properly qualified. We also believe strongly that dog breeding legislation should be considered too in a bid to combat overbreeding and the numerous health conditions that result from it, and also the exorbitant amounts people are being charged for pups. Whatever your own take you can have your say here -

Not dog related but does anyone have any recommendations for paid carers who would do home visits for a dementia sufferer? Would probably range from helping with personal care to befriending and perhaps regularly going out for a coffee. I know this whole thing is a minefield for everyone just now but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone know a dog walker in the Dunfermline area they could recommend? Looking for one for my parents who have a lovely, but lively and obedient springer spaniel that would need a decent run once a day. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have a coal fire and want a free bag of coal? Have inherited one cleaning out my folks garage and don't want to just chuck it away. Can deliver locally.

Having just listened to the Scottish Government advice we've taken the decision to close for January. I think that technically we probably could still work, but I think when it's as cold as it, it's hard to justify dog grooming as "essential" unlike in the summer. The contagion numbers are getting out of control. We appreciate others will want/need to keep working and completely respect their individual decision. We'll be in touch with everybody booked for January as soon as we can. Keep safe everyone and look after each other (in a socially distanced way).

We are back on the road from tomorrow. As co-ordinated with the Scottish Government we'll have strict procedures in place to allow us to work in Phase 1 of Lockdown easing,. We are now booked up till towards the end of July. Cheers for your patience.

22/05/2020

We have just been in touch with the Scottish Government and can announce that we will be back on June 1st 2020. All initial grooms until the lockdown eases will be on welfare grounds where is it "considered essential for the welfare of an animal include the clipping of heavy and/or matted coats and claws" [Their words]. Therefore, it's the dogs who are really desperate we will be doing first. They also continue that "where an animal is NOT at risk of pain or injury or its welfare [is not being] compromised" should not be getting done by any groomer until the lockdown eases further.

We will be putting in place numerous new procedures to keep both ourselves and our customers safe. These shall be explained when Shona calls you to rearrange. All appointments and payment will be done either online or by phone.

Please bear in mind that we have a fair backlog to work through so in the interests of fairness we'll be starting from the people who have been waiting since the beginning of lockdown. We'll also be bearing in mind the loyalty of customers who have been loyal to us through the years.

Stay safe!

Just an update to say we're still unfortunately closed. It's been pretty tough I know and there are a lot of dogs out there in desperate states. Pretty much all groomers seem to be heeding government advice and staying closed for now. As the weather gets warmer it will become more of a welfare issue that coats are not getting cut and dogs are overheating. It's a difficult balancing act for us, as no matter how prepared we ever for any cross-contamination that will also be a risk of some sort. However, we've got our plan in place that what contact we have will be as safe and minimal as possible. As soon as the Scottish government eases restrictions a bit we'll be back! Keep safe everyone.

22/03/2020

Just to let everyone know that after a huge amount of thought in the last few days we have decided to stop grooming for the moment due to CV-19. As much as we have been doing our utmost to ensure cleanliness, social distancing and precaution I think that the situation has now got that serious that I don't want to risk the health of myself, my family or any of my customers (though as far as I know no-one has shown any symptoms). Hope you all understand and I hope you enjoy the extra time you're most likely going to have with your family and friends (hairy or otherwise). We'll be contacting customers with appointments individually and see you soon when all this madness is over.
