We are looking for another team member here at Shieldbank to work Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with one hour for lunch, assisting with feeding, mucking out, turning out and bringing in, as well as helping with lessons. Minimum age 16. This role could be developed into an apprenticeship over 5 days a week. Riding instruction is offered.

Riders and vaulters who come via the M90.
Please note that there will be closures of the southbound M90 off and on slip roads plus lane closures on the southbound M90 from Thursday, 12th December to Monday, 16th December.

Signed diversions will be in place.

Traffic wishing to leave the southbound M90 at Junction 4 will continue to Junction 3 at Halbeath and turn at the roundabout to head north and exit at the northbound off slip road for Junction 4.
Traffic wishing to join the southbound M90 at Junction 4 will take the northbound on slip road and continue to Junction 5, turning using the B9097 and heading south on the M90.

SUCCESS FOR RED !

Last Sunday, 1st. December, Big Red ridden by Juliane won an Elementary Dressage Competition up the Howe near Cupar.
What an achievement when you remember that earlier this year Red had a serious colic (gastro-splenic entrapment) and 7 feet of his small intestine had to be cut out. He was carefully brought back into ridden work in August. Thank you to our vet, Malcolm of Central Equine for referring Red, the consultant John Keen and his team at the Equine Hospital of the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies who performed this difficult operation, and the team at Shieldbank who cared so well for him upon his return. And last but not least, thanks go to Juliane for working with Red (lunging and riding) to bring about this amazing turnaround.

Good morning, riders!

BOOKINGS AND CANCELLATIONS POLICY AT SHIELDBANK

At Shieldbank Riding and Vaulting Club we are working together with all our riders to ensure we have clear lines of communication regarding the booking or cancellation of lessons.

If you are looking to make your very first booking with us, please call/text me directly on 07800 830 841, or send me an email on [email protected]. Our website also has a Contact Form.

It is my responsibility to ensure that every rider, who has booked in, always has an instructor, a horse/pony and an arena for their lesson. Equally, I need to know if a booking is cancelled in advance of the start of the lesson.

If you need, or would like to make or change a booking, prior to the day, (standard cancellation) you can send me an email on [email protected] A minimum 24 hours notice is standard and there is no charge for a standard cancellation. Any rider simply not turning up for a lesson they have booked will be charged the full amount.

Any emergency cancellations on the day need to be sent to my mobile number 07800 830 841 either by call or text. If I do not answer a call, please leave a voicemail as I cannot always physically pull out my mobile whilst I am teaching.

The Coffee Shop is a separate business. For ease of communication, the daily diary sheet is given to them every morning, and they can take card payments on behalf of Shieldbank Riding & Vaulting Club on a separate card machine. The Coffee Shop ladies may also ask riders if they would like to book in at the same time/day in the following week. A note is made of any changes to the regular weekly pattern. Should you require a different slot, for example, I shall call later to arrange. In the evening, the sheet is returned to me for setting up the diary for next week.

No riding school cancellations can be accepted via the Coffee Shop phone number, last minute or otherwise. Their attention needs to be focused on the guests in the Coffee Shop.

Options to volunteer at Shieldbank

We have opportunities for people of 16 or above who would be interested in volunteering with the riding centre. Activities include caring for the horses, the tack and the turn out areas. Full training will be given. This would suit someone as yet unsure about full time involvement in the horse industry.

Autumn Holidays - PONY DAYS - Some dates still available!

Are you hoping to spend some extra time with your favorite horses and ponies?

Next week we have some Pony Day spaces on Tuesday, 15th, Wednesday, 16th, or Thursday, 17th October, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. including 2 ridden and 3 stable management sessions, as well as lunch in our Coffee Shop! Cost £90.

POPULAR PONY DAYS DURING THE AUTUMN HOLIDAYS !

Would your child like to spend a day with their favourite horses and ponies learning more about their care (grooming, tacking up, untacking, mucking out, turning out and bringing in), as well as riding in the morning and in the afternoon?

Why not book in for a Pony Day ([email protected] or call/text 07800 830 841) and even bring a friend. Pony Days are held every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday during the holidays and they include lunch of your choice from the Coffee Shop.

The day starts at 10 a.m. and finishes at 4 p.m. All riders are very welcome. The cost is £90 including lunch! We have riding helmets here that riders can borrow if they do not have their own.

Enjoy spending time with horses and ponies!

JOB OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a school leaver (or older) who would like to experience working with horses. Ideally we are needing someone who would like to work their way up through the British Horse Society examination system.
