Hayley's Happy Hounds is all about making your life easier and "keeping your best friend happy". I am based in Essex and am available for dog walks, pet visits, as a pet taxi and eventually (once I have finished all my studying) to give advice on behavioural issues that your dog may have. Having our own hound (Bella the Beagle) means that I know the strains put on us by life and that sometimes, ou

r beloved pet doesn't always get the full attention we would all love them to have. But this need no longer be the case! If you are struggling to walk your dog because of work commitments, have a poorly pet who just needs some TLC whilst you are out, have a vet appointment that you need a hand with or you just simply want to take a day off walking, please feel free to contact me to see if I can be of help and make you feel better knowing your best fur friend is in safe and loving hands. Sarah and I have been busy making our Happy Canines Scarecrow to be part of the Audley End Miniature Railway Scarecrow Exhibition for autumn. We considered making a dog but figured our Blue Peter skills didn't quite stretch that far 🤣

This is, therefore, a plea to anyone who may have a stuffed dog we can use to go with our 'Sarah Scarecrow'. Obviously happy to make a donation towards said dog.

Bringing a puppy home is very exciting for the whole family.

When you already have a dog at home, this adjustment can take time and requires love and care not only for the incoming puppy to get used to their new environment but also for the older dog to get to know their new friend.

I spent some time with Ernie and Flo this week who are doing well communicating with each other, and their family are ensuring they have time to do this at their own pace...well done to everyone 👏

A dogs nose is so much more than just a breathing machine...with up to 300 million olfactory (smelling) receptors a dog is able to:
🐶 Breathe in and out at the same time in a continuous circulation of air

🐶 Smell in 3D - like our eyes, dogs nostrils can smell separately, thus giving them a 3D version of the world

🐶 Smell the passage of time by detecting tiny reductions in the concentration of odour molecules

🐶 Smell up to 100,000 times better than a human. If a dog walked into a bakery, they wouldn't just smell cakes and bread, they'd be able to smell the individual ingredients

As the school summer holidays approach, it's common to ask the kids to help us with tasks around the house and that can sometimes include walking the dog.

This can sometimes be a lot bigger task than they are ready for so I find this a helpful chart to guide us to ensure both the dog and child are safe and enjoying their walk together
