Meet the new A-Team!

Most of you will already know Rebecca Enifer who has been a dedicated member of the Vet team here at Moloneys for several years. Rebecca has been a driving force behind all our efforts to modernize and constantly improve animal care in the practice. She is a natural leader, so it is a real pleasure to let everyone know that Rebecca has been appointed as senior Clinical Director at Moloney Veterinary Clinics.

In her new position, Rebecca will continue to be assisted by Jerry Moloney who will, over time, concentrate more on his clinical role. Jerry is pleased and proud to be able to work with Rebecca and to see the Practice he founded thrive and develop under her leadership. He has no intention of hanging up his stethoscope any time soon! Good luck Rebecca and team!

📦 Hide and Seek: Open doors, cupboards, or closets for a mini-exploration adventure.
📝Scrunched Paper Play: Toss a scrunched-up paper ball for endless entertainment!
🐾 Sensory games and agility courses

To all the animals we lost in service, and to those who serve us today, we honour them by wearing the purple poppy.
From horses and dogs to even pigeons, they played a vital role in the war, providing courage, comfort and sacrifice.

As we remember them, let’s also take a moment to thank and support our veterans who continue to inspire us with their strength.

Check your pet for fleas by combing their fur with a fine-toothed flea comb over a white piece of kitchen roll, tissue or cotton wool…

The comb will catch fleas and their droppings. If you spot small black specks on the paper, add a drop of water to them. If these specks dissolve and create a reddish-brown stain (like a red halo), this may indicate the presence of fleas.

👋 If you suspect your pet has fleas, please don't hesitate give us a call

🐶 Nervous dog clinics 🐶

❤️ We always want our patients to feel as happy and comfortable as possible when they come to see us, but know that some dogs struggle more than most.
👩‍⚕️ One of our lovely nurses Ellie will be starting regular nervous dog clinics for our canine friends who are very fearful at the vets.
❤️ These will be 15 minute visits designed to get to know your pet, and to help them build a positive association with being at the vets.
👩‍⚕️ Ellie’s first clinics will be held at our Dunmow branch on the 21st of November and 12th of December and will be free of charge. Please contact our reception team if you would like to book an appointment.

📝Please note, nervous aggressive dogs may be asked to wear a muzzle. If any pets have severe behavioural issues Ellie might recommend a vet visit and behaviourist referral.

**Meet Bill the Cat: The Importance of Hyperthyroid Check-Ups!**

This is Bill, one of our feline friends here at Moloney’s. Bill is a sweet, energetic kitty, but recently, his owner noticed he was losing weight and drinking more water than usual. After a vet check and blood tests, we discovered that Bill has hyperthyroidism.

**What is Hyperthyroidism?**
Hyperthyroidism is a common condition in older cats, where the thyroid gland produces too much of thyroid hormone. This can lead to weight loss, increased appetite, excessive thirst, and even heart issues if left untreated. The good news? It's manageable!

**Why Are Regular Blood Tests Important?**
Routine blood tests are the best way to catch hyperthyroidism early. By keeping an eye on your cat’s thyroid levels, we can ensure they stay healthy and active, just like Bill! Early detection makes treatment much more effective and helps prevent complications.

If your cat is over 7 years old, or if you’ve noticed any changes in their behaviour or health, it might be time for a check-up. Schedule a blood test with us today, and let’s keep our furry friends feeling their best!

🦷 12 year old Beau was recently in with us for a dental descale and extractions.
❤️ This is performed under general anaesthetic which his owner was very worried about due to his age and heart condition.
👩🏻‍⚕️ Our team tailored his anaesthetic protocol to make things as safe as possible, and he sailed through his procedure. Beau is now feeling much better!
⭐️Well done Beau!!

Fright Free Halloween
Six Ways to Keep Your Pets Happy on Spooky Day!

Halloween can be a fun and exciting time, but the constant doorbell ringing, and trick-or-treaters can be stressful for our furry friends. Here are some tips to help create a calm environment for your pets:

🎃Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet room with their favourite toys and bedding where your pet can retreat from the Halloween hustle and bustle

🎃Keep Them Busy: Provide interactive toys or treats to keep your pet engaged and distracted

🎃Play Calming Music: Soft music or white noise can help drown out the sounds of doorbells and excited children

🎃Use Pet Calming Products: Consider using pheromone diffusers or calming sprays to help reduce stress

🎃Limit Costume Time: If you dress up your pet, make sure the costume is comfortable and doesn't add to their anxiety

🎃Stay Calm: Your pet can sense your stress. Stay calm and relaxed to help them feel more at ease

Keep your pets safe and stress-free this Halloween! Share your tips and experiences in the comments below🐾🎃👻
