These nurse led clinics are a fantastic opportunity to discuss all aspects of your senior pets care, and pick up on health issues early 🐱

Senior clinics will be running on Tuesdays & Thursdays at our Takeley branch and Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at Dunmow. We look forward to seeing our older patients there ❤️

🌊In September lovely vet Kerry will be taking part in an English Channel relay, swimming as part of a team from Dover.

❤️This is to raise money for SwimTayka who teach swimming and water safety skills to children in underprivileged communities across the world to help prevent drowning.

Sunshine came to see us with her owners, after being missing for 16 years!! She needed blood tests and dental treatment, but is so happy to be reunited with her family ❤️

No more hair bands Nora!!

Tiny Nora visited us feeling very unwell. She had eaten hair bands, string and some plastic at home which caused her to vomit. Nora required surgery to remove the remaining foreign material, and is now feeling so much better ❤️

At only 1.5kg and 3 months of age, Nora was very small and at risk of becoming cold. One of our lovely clients has hand knitted us little cat jumpers to keep our patients warm while they are here 🥹

🐀 Leptospirosis 🐀

Leptospirosis is a bacteria that can be present in stagnant water, especially where rodents and farm animals are present.

Symptoms vary, but most frequent are lethargy, vomiting, reduced appetite and yellow gums.

❗️Without treatment the disease can progress rapidly and lead to death in severe cases.

Leptospirosis can also be transmitted to humans.

💉We recommend protecting your dogs by vaccinating for leptospirosis annually, especially if they have contact with water, rats or farm animals.

⭐️ Well done Rose ⭐️

Rose came to see us at our Takeley branch with signs of cystitis (straining to urinate frequently and blood in her urine)💧

A radiograph revealed a large collection of uroliths (stones/calculi) in her bladder 🩻

Rose had surgery to remove all of the stones, and is feeling so much better ❤️

🐶 **Meet Bert!** 🐾

This little cutie came in for his very first nail clip with our nurses today, and he was an absolute star! ⭐️ With those big ears and even bigger puppy dog eyes, we couldn't resist giving him lots of love and cuddles.

Springtime Dangers to Watch Out For! ⚠️

Spring is in full bloom, but did you know it can also bring hidden hazards for your pets?

🍫 Easter eggs & hot cross buns: Tempting for pets, but toxic if ingested!
🌱 Toxic plants: Plants like lilies, tulips, and daffodils can be harmful to curious nibblers
⚠️ Outdoor hazards: Fertilizers, garden chemicals, and slug bait are all no-go zones
🐜 Fleas & ticks: These pesky critters love the warmer weather, so ask us about protecting your pet
🤧 Allergies: Just like us, pets can suffer from spring allergies too. Watch for sneezing, itching, or watery eyes!

If you think your pet has eaten or been exposed to any of these toxins or hazards, don’t wait - contact your vet right away. Acting fast can make all the difference!

🐶 Nervous dog clinics 🐶

❤️ We always want our patients to feel as happy and comfortable as possible when they come to see us, but know that some dogs struggle more than most.
👩‍⚕️ One of our lovely nurses Ellie will be starting regular nervous dog clinics for our canine friends who are very fearful at the vets.
❤️ These will be 15 minute visits designed to get to know your pet, and to help them build a positive association with being at the vets.
👩‍⚕️ Ellie’s first clinics will be held at our Dunmow branch on the 21st of November and 12th of December and will be free of charge. Please contact our reception team if you would like to book an appointment.

📝Please note, nervous aggressive dogs may be asked to wear a muzzle. If any pets have severe behavioural issues Ellie might recommend a vet visit and behaviourist referral.

We will be closing between 12-4pm on the 27th of February so that staff can attend Bev’s memorial service.

You will still be able to contact us at our Dunmow branch (01371872102) in case of an emergency. We will be open as usual from 4pm at Dunmow, but closed at Takeley for the entire afternoon.
