The joy of ear rubs β₯οΈ
Reincarnation is real π
Adding some distraction to heelwork with someone else trying to call him. This is for our IGP training which is a sport Novak does π
Puppies pick things up it's just what they do! π
Here Talis has nabbed a packet of seeds, you can see that if I start focusing on it and ask him what he's got and putting my hand out, he immediately wants to run away with it. Don't try and chase your pup or be obvious that you want to take something off them!!
It will only make them want it more! π¬
Watch how a hand touch works in this situation (if you have a good history of reward with a hand touch which you hopefully should!)
π
(With a young puppy that might not know a hand touch yet you can also use distraction, either run and pick something else up or throw a handful of treats in the opposite direction)
Little teething tip for puppies, cut up an old tea towel, soak in water and then put in a plastic bag and put it into the freezer for a couple of hours.
π¦
Just gives them something nice and cold and hard to bite down on to soothe any sore gums π
We were also lucky enough that somebody let us meet their very steady pony. So many new experiences for puppies! π
Talis had his first hydro session today at Canine Aquatread β₯οΈ
It's great to get puppies used to this, good for building up fitness and it's non weight bearing. Also just another good socialising opportunity of a strange machine and floor that moves, someone holding him etc etc! π
It's an effort to make yourself fun in the presence of other dogs especially with a puppy!
But it's vital, you don't want a pup to learn that their main source of fun is other dogs and not you! So always make sure you are armed with high value food and a toy so you can engage your dog as much as possible β€οΈ
I love puppies little faces when they are learning things π
Talisman learning a 'hold' β€οΈ
Dog buggies are a safe way for your puppy to see the world when they are very little. It means you can take an unvaccinated puppy somewhere busy, and still go for long walks if you have older dogs. π
We have hired ours from Fellowship Dog Training which is a great scheme!
Puppies find amusement in the simplest of things. π€£ Today was a carrot...
I would like a polite puppy! I don't want him to to think he can take toys or food from another dog because that is going to land him in a heap of trouble. π
Puppies don't come with any built-in manners so it's up to us to teach them how we would like them to behave, this morning's lesson was about taking turns and sharing. βΊοΈ
Sometimes older dogs are not particularly impressed by a puppy entering the home. π
Novak says 'can we get a refund please??'
π€£π€£
(I'm sure they will be best friends in a couple of days)
The breeders work getting him acclimatized to the hoover has definitely paid off π
My soon-to-be puppy is nearly 5 weeks old..β₯οΈ
He's getting used to the sights and sounds of a household, this is why I always prefer to have puppies that are raised in the house, with a breeder who puts so much effort into socialising and rearing happy pups. β₯οΈβ₯οΈ
We often teach little tricks in class because it's a really fun way to get your dog engaged. Remember they don't know it's a trick, they just enjoy learning things, and it's good for teaching a general love of training..
Some are super easy to do like this one where I teach Novak to put his head under a pillow and then add a funny cue to it π
Thursday night is 'In the dog house' time, even Novak likes to watch it ππππΆ
