📰🙋1 Week to go until our second Net Zero event of the year which will be held at Rulesmains Farm, Duns.

🌟Hosted by the Hodge family, recipients of the Scotch Beef Farm of the Year award. Emma Hodge and her parents, Jill and Andrew, run a mixed arable and pedigree cattle farm with 110 pedigree Aberdeen-Angus, 30 commercial Angus, and a few pedigree Hereford cattle.

• Workshops on genetics, health protocols, and nutrition led by industry experts

As we round up a successful Summer National Show held at the Border Union Show yesterday, the Club would like to thank the exhibitors for coming and putting on a great display of cattle, and our judge - Wanda Tilson - for adjudicating some tough classes.

We would like to thank our sponsors that supported the show, without whom it would not have been possible - AB Europe, Rickerbys, Agrii, Rumenco, ForFarmers, Solway Agriculture, Tofts Aberdeen Angus Herd, Norvite Animal Nutrition, ScotAgri, and Performance Feeds.

A special mention goes to Scotmin Nutrition who generously supported our exhibitors BBQ, held on Friday evening pre-show. Everyone was well fed and watered, ready for competition the next day!

Our well publicised Heifer Raffle was drawn on Saturday afternoon directly before the Parade. A very special thanks to the Hodge family for their more than generous donation of Rulesmains Princess Z838. Princess Z838 attended the show "in person" and was used in a clipping demonstration given by Ian Campbell (Upper Huntlywood), and organised by the NextGen committee of the Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society.

✨ The Raffle Heifer Clipping Demonstration ✨
The Raffle Heifer, kindly donated by Rulesmains Aberdeen Angus, will be getting clipped before the BBQ on Friday evening in the cattle ring. This is a great chance to learn more about how to clip your show animals. All are welcome to watch and it is another chance to purchase tickets for the raffle heifer, and separately raise funds for YDP.

🏆 Rulesmains Priceless Z872 Champion of Champions at Biggar Show 🏆

Rulesmains Priceless had a little trip to Biggar Show on Saturday where she was tapped out as
🏆 Any Other Breed Champion
🏆 Interbreed Champion
And to top it off Champion of Champions.

It was a very wet GYS but a good one.

🥇Both Rulesmains Rosebud Z792 and Rulesmains Pedro Z819 came 1st in their classes.
🏆Rosebud bud was tapped out as Reserve Female Champion
🏆 Pedro was tapped Male Champion and then Overall Reserve.
🥇The pair then took 1st in the pairs.
🥇Rulesmains Priceless Z872 joined them in 1st place in the group of 3
🏆 To top of the week the group was tapped out in the Exhibitor Interbreed group.

WIN AN ABERDEEN ANGUS HEIFER for only £20

By courtesy of RULESMAINS ABERDEEN ANGUS, the Border Aberdeen Angus Club are raffling a heifer - Rulesmains Princess Z838 - the proceeds of which will go towards the marquee costs for the Summer National Show to be held at the Border Union Show on Saturday 27th July.

The summer show season has started with a bang for us.
A very mud Northumberland show on Saturday was our first show.
🏆Male Champion with Rulesmains Pedro Z819
🏆Reserve Female Champion and Reserve Overall Angus with Rulesmains Rosebud Z792.
🏆1st in the pairs and Rulesmains Priceless Z872 stood 2nd in the heifer class to Rulesmains Rosebud.

🌾 About Andrew Hodge and Rulesmains Farm:
Andrew, along with his wife Jill and daughter Emma, manages a 1500-acre family farming enterprise primarily focused on arable farming, complemented by a remarkable 135 head suckler herd of cattle, including the renowned Rulesmains herd of Aberdeen Angus.

🐄 Rulesmains Aberdeen Angus Herd:
Established in 2008, the Rulesmains herd now boasts an impressive 110 Pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle.

🏆 Recent Achievements:
Last year, Emma secured the reserve junior champion and overall reserve male champion titles at the Angus summer national show. This year, Rulesmains made a big impression at the Great Yorkshire Show, winning the reserve male junior champion and reserve male overall titles. Their accolades also extend to the October sales at Stirling, where they were awarded senior male champion and overall reserve champion.

A successful day at The Great Yorkshire Show last week.
We took Rulesmains Pegasus X489 and Rulesmains Elegent X527 for the trip and both were 1st in their classes.
Rulesmains Pegasus X489 went on to take Reserve Male Champion and Rulesmains Elegent X527 brought home Reserve Junior Champion.

After the Highland Show we took the long journey down to the Aberdeen Angus national at the Royal Norfolk Show, with 3 of our yearlings.

Rulesmains Elegent X527
All were 1st in their classes and Pegasus went on to win Junior Male Champion and Reserve overall Male Champion.
Then Elegent went on to be Reserve Junior Female Champion and Reserve Overall Junior Champion.
