Happy Halloween!!

I hope everyone is looking forward to an evening of fun however it can sometimes be a difficult time for the doggies in our lives.

Here are some top tips to help support our furry friends:

- don't knock on houses that are unlit, there could be a dog that is worried by unknown people or working hard on training around the doorbell.

- don't force your furry friends to dress up if they are uncomfortable

-walk your dogs before the trick or treaters start

-give your dog an extra bit of space past Halloween decorations we don't want them to get scared

-if you are having trick or treaters at your house make sure your dogs are locked away from the front door so they don't get scared by the costumes

Still time to book on to our social walk

Social walks!

These are great for building confidence, working on focus and building neutrality in a controlled environment with other like minded dog parents.

5th October - 10am- £8 for those dogs that are friendly but struggle with excitement and frustration. It is also a great opportunity for your dog to make friends in a controlled calm environment (over 6 months)

19th September - 10am -£8 - for those dogs who are nervous or fear aggressive and need that extra little bit of space. This walk is also suitable for friendly dogs that want to work on being around dogs with a larger distance (over 6 months)

Loose lead walking workshop

Come along to our next loose lead walking workshop.

We are running our workshop across 3 weeks starting on games to build proximity, moving on to the basics of loose lead walking and then taking it out into the big world.

Need support with your dog?

I am offering a couple of people a reduced price for a full behaviour consultation. £75 instead of £250.

I am over the moon that I have been awarded my provisional membership of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC). I am now looking forward to being fully qualified by April next year.

In order to get the discount you need to be happy to be filmed and for the film to be submitted to the APBC for my assessment.

We had 7 lovely dogs join us over our new workshop sessions.

I hope those who attended enjoyed the sessions and I've had some great feedback.

Loose lead walking workshop: will continue as is in the hall. We will aim to run this at least once a month on a Saturday.

Reactivity workshop: Ive had feedback that people preferred the work we did outside. I am more than happy to do more of that. The reactivity workshop will return however I am going to look for a more suitable venue.

Two of our training walk dogs met each other yesterday! One is very over the top with dogs and one is very scared of dogs. So much work has gone into these dogs individually to get them walking like this next to each other. Lots of learning for them both! Super proud dog trainer! Well done Belle and Betsy

Another training walk win today. The lovely Maeve moving away from dogs on the other side of the field. This is super hard for her as she wants to be friends with everyone. Well done Maeve

A new place with lots of distractions for Molly on her training walk today. Really starting to solidify that loose lead walking in a variety of places. This is also your reminder that loose lead walking doesn't have to be in a heel position. It is a lot more sustainable to allow your dog to have a bit of room to sniff.

When you are having a lovely time on your training walk and then a horse comes along and ruins it

Oscar helped save a little duckling on his walk today. A trip to the RSPCA to drop the little one off into safe hands. Super well done to Oscar for being so gentle

Our training walks are not all about training! It's so important to allow our dogs to have a break in whatever we are teaching them. Just like children we can't expect them to concentrate for a full 45 minutes. Shorter sessions prevent frustration from both dog and handler. One of our training dogs Molly absolutely loves her sticks we think this one may be a bit big though 🌳

It was more a rain day than a snow day today but we did get a little bit of the white stuff 🌨️🌨️

A couple of my dogs showing off their fabulous recall. We work super hard with all our dogs to have recall and be able to recall away from lots of different distractions.
