I am running a reactivity workshop on Saturday 17th August in Framwellgate Moor at 2pm
Come along and work with your reactive dog, teaching them to be calm around other dogs using a mixture of training, brain games and confidence building both inside and outside.
Puppy classes!
We have our next set of puppy classes starting on 31st August
We cover everything from basic positions, drop and leave it, loose lead walking, recall and socialisation over a 4 week course.
Age: Suitable for pups up to 6 months old

We recently had a lovely pet sit with Monty and Henry while their family were away.
Pet sits are available throughout the year between Friday and Sunday. Not available throughout the week unfortunately.
Two of our training walk dogs met each other yesterday!
One is very over the top with dogs and one is very scared of dogs. So much work has gone into these dogs individually to get them walking like this next to each other. Lots of learning for them both!

Puppy play session
We are going to be running a one off puppy play session in Framwellgate Moor.
We will be running this at 2pm on the 10th August suitable for puppies up to 20 weeks.
We will be talking about socialisation, appropriate greetings and appropriate off lead play using things such as ball pit, jumps and activity feeders.
Limited spaces to make sure each puppy gets a positive space to learn.

We are expanding our dog walking service. With so many of our training dogs at the stage of getting ready to meet new friends we have space for dogs to join our group walking service.
On our group walks we work on things such as recall, neutrality around dogs and lead walking
At the moment these spaces are for dogs in the Sacriston and Chester le Street area.
We spent our day hiding away in the shade today. It has been very warm even when the sun has been away and the wind blowing. The rest of the week is looking very similar so we will be reducing walk times or cancelling all together.
If you feel your dog is not going to cope in the warm weather and you would prefer to cancel your walk for this week please just let me know
We recently met the lovely Cooper to help him and his family along his journey.
Amongst a lot of other things we talked about the importance of Cooper having his own space especially when he shares his home with a toddler.
Having not shown much interest in his crate before we talked about how we can make it positive for him, and here he is the day after our session chilling in his crate with all his toys.

We had 8 lovely dogs join us across our two social walks today.
We worked on being calm around other dogs, greeting, confidence and practiced disengaging for those reactive dogs

A new place with lots of distractions for Molly on her training walk today. Really starting to solidify that loose lead walking in a variety of places.
This is also your reminder that loose lead walking doesn't have to be in a heel position. It is a lot more sustainable to allow your dog to have a bit of room to sniff.
Oscars recall is absolutely fantastic until he catches the scent of a dead animal.
So we are back on the long line to help support him with his recall during his training walks

Welcome Cooper to our dog walking gang.
We are working with Cooper on his loose lead walking and over excitement around dogs. Being a young dog and only recently being rehomed from a stray shelter he has definitely lacked structure from a young age but he is starting to come on leaps and bounds with the support of his family.

Paddock sessions for Belle. Learning how to play appropriately off lead with other dogs.
She has been doing so well and even started to do her own thing without constantly pestering my two.
Is this something that would interest others? If I get enough interest I may start up some paddock sessions during the week

I met the lovely Nibbles for a one off walk while his family were out for the day!
He did super well coming out with me without any hesitation and we had a lovely walk round the fields
This week has been much cooler! The doggos have been much happier back out exploring!

With summer approaching I know it is often difficult to commit to a full course of training.
Throughout July and August I will be running 1 off classes for dogs of all ages working on all sorts of fun things. These are great if you want to teach your dog something new or want your children to learn to interact with your dog positively.
I will also be running one off classes specific for those reactive dogs working on being neutral around triggers, through learning new tricks and exploring new things.

When you are having a lovely time on your training walk and then a horse comes along and ruins it
Oscar helped save a little duckling on his walk today. A trip to the RSPCA to drop the little one off into safe hands. Super well done to Oscar for being so gentle
Our training walks are not all about training! It's so important to allow our dogs to have a break in whatever we are teaching them. Just like children we can't expect them to concentrate for a full 45 minutes. Shorter sessions prevent frustration from both dog and handler. One of our training dogs Molly absolutely loves her sticks we think this one may be a bit big though 🌳

It was more a rain day than a snow day today but we did get a little bit of the white stuff 🌨️🌨️
A couple of my dogs showing off their fabulous recall. We work super hard with all our dogs to have recall and be able to recall away from lots of different distractions. If your dog can't do this it shouldn't be off lead for both its safety and the safety of others. If you need some support with your dogs recall get in contact today
A little snippet from Molly's training walk today. When I first met Molly she had mastered her heel work however she was only able to do it for a short period of time. She spent her whole time looking up towards the treats. We have been working on making her loose lead walking less strict meaning she has more freedom to be a dog hopefully meaning it is more sustainable. This is all done by changing what is rewarded and when the reward is given. Instead of rewarding eye contact we are now rewarding moving and looking forward on a nice slack lead. Well done Molly 🐾
So much fun in the snow today ☃️
A little snippet of Benji's training walk today. Benji really struggles with engagement on walks so we always play this game at the start of his walks. Quick movements and getting him to move with me without fighting is all we are aiming for. It's not the prettiest training but it doesn't always need to be.
Another training win for Oscar who managed to jump in the car for the first time. When I met Oscar he wouldn't even look at my car but for 5 mins in every session we have been working on this! Now we need to transfer to his mum's car Huge well done Oscar 💓
The lovely Belle has been absolutely smashing her loose lead walking recently. She struggles the most on grass as there is just so much to investigate. It's not perfect but such an improvement! Well done Belle 💓

We are on our holidays at the moment, having a lovely time in the Lake District. Today my girls braved a boat trip for the first time. A new environment, around new people and new dogs. Those who know my dogs or who I have spoken to about my dogs know what a big deal this is for both of them but for separate reasons. Positive reinforcement training works, this is over 2 years worth of work but it is possible ❤️
Hardwork, patience and consistency. We have had 2 sessions already with little progress and then it took us half an hour to get to this point today but we did it. Huge well done Benji.
