Overview of K9 BIG PAWS
We are a newly established business who are a husband and wife team. Dogs have always been a main passion in our lives and it has always been a desire of ours to to work with them in some capacity. Why? Big Paws K9 you may ask. Well, jointly we have around 45yrs experience of owning & handling large breeds; Bullmastiffs, Dogue de Bordeaux and in recent years working breeds; Dutch Herder and Malinois. From experience we have found it difficult to find care for them. Therefore, it is our intention to offer a service, with our vast knowledge and experience of large breeds and difficult dogs. Of course ALL dogs are welcome, no matter how big or small and working dogs are also welcome. We endeavour to offer your dogs the best service and attention whilst in our care. https://www.monarchfabrications.co.uk/ have recently completed building our block of 6 state of the art thermal, kennels (see photos).
We are licenced with Durham County Council and insured with Protectivity. Documents can be seen on request.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS No booking is secured until we receive your 20% non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance is due on or before day of boarding. MEET & GREET We will offer a meet and greet so your dogs are familiarised with us and our environment. EXERCISE BOARDING DOGS will be exercised a minimum of twice a day. Our exercise areas are safe and secure so they’ll get the freedom to run and enjoy their daily exercise sessions. We will offer other enrichment activities for dogs that can’t walk very far due to health or age. CLEANING We will be using pet fresh kennel disinfectant throughout our premises to ensure high levels of hygiene. Kennels and dog bowls will be thoroughly cleaned in between each dogs stay to eliminate any potential cross contamination. Kennels will be cleaned on a daily basis. Any bags of dog waste will be disposed of correctly. We will use your dogs own bedding if required where ever possible. FEEDING You Supply your dog's food and treats as you know your dogs diet best. Dogs will be fed separately and meal times will be supervised. Dogs from the same household will be fed according to the client’s recommendation, unless we deem it to be unsafe. SHARING A KENNEL Dogs from the same household will only share a kennel with written consent from their owners and if we feel it is safe. Dogs from separate homes will not be left alone together. BOARDING PUPPIES UNDER A YEAR All dogs under the age of 12 months, where possible, will be give the opportunity for supervised interaction with people and dogs to ensure their socialisation and emotional growth. With owners consent they should be given time to explore the environment, sounds and be kept entertained with activities and objectives. Training will be positively rewarding. VACCINATION, DISEASE CONTROL & PREVENTION We need to see a copy of your dog's vaccination record and keep it on site throughout your dogs stay. You are responsible for keeping your dog's vaccination updated. Unfortunately I can’t accept any dog/s if there vaccinations are not up to date. If a restart is needed please remember it's 2 weeks after last vaccination before boarding. Please flea, worm and tick treat your dog/s before their stay. If your dog comes to us with Kennel Cough or any other infectious disease or illness we will be unable to accept them and will contact you or your emergency contact to come and collect them. We will isolate your dog/s until collected, then undergo thorough cleaning using pet fresh disinfectant. We accept no responsibility if your dog develops Kennel Cough while in our care or shortly after as it’s a virus and can be picked up anywhere. We will however ensure our premises are fully disinfected on a regular basis to prevent the spread of KC or any other infection. This applies to both vaccination and unvaccinated dogs as KC vaccine doesn't provide 100% guarantee. URGENT CARE If your dog becomes ill or urgently needs vet treatment whilst in our care and we have your permission, we will use Dunelm vets in Durham, or the nearest practice immediately available. You are responsible for any vet bills that may occur. We will contact you or your emergency contact number for advice and keep you updated on the care your dog is receiving. DISEASE, ILLNESS & DEATH If your dog shows any signs of disease or illness they will be isolated from the other dogs until we have received advice from the vets. If your dog has an infectious disease we will contact you/emergency contact (you will be kept up to date at all times) and contact the licencing authority on the next working day. Following an infectious disease I will undergo a quarantine period on the vets advice before boarding again. We will inform the licensing authority of any death on the premises and arrangements will be made for your vet to keep your dog until you return. You are responsible for the cost of all vets bill.
