What does perfect recall and loose lead walking have in common?...
Your dogs desire to stay CLOSE to you!
If that's what you want then play this game for 3 minutes a day and feel the relief of your dog wanting to choose YOU!
You can play on or off lead and wherever you are, but for best results start at home first and gradually build up to more distracting environments.
πΆTo break it down, how you play is like this;
1. Throw a piece of visible food out for your dog to eat (e.g. chicken/cheese)
2. When they have eaten it and start to orient back to you (I.e. look at you), mark this moment by saying 'YES!'
3. Throw another piece of food out for them to eat in the opposite/another direction
Remember it's about a FUN time not a long time! π
π TOP TIP TUESDAY- Supercharged recall! π
Here's a really cool tip for supercharging your dog's recall & making you sexier than a squirrel!
(or sheep/deer/bird/other dog/leaf blowing in the wind!)
Who would LOVE it if your dog chose YOU over that sexy sheep all the time?! Well there's a tip for that!
Not only is this dream totally achievable but you will also find that by following this tip your dog generally just wants to hang out close to you wherever you are!
As promised here's yesterday's top tip...today! π

Did your dog get any new toys for Christmas?
Here's a fun game you can play with them which will really boost your relationship, encourage your dog to see you as the best thing since sliced bread and also help to prevent resource guarding behaviours! You can also build on this game to turn it into a strategy for getting your dog to drop something they shouldnt have in theor mouth. How cool is that?!
(Excuse how dark it is in the video and also the wet patch on my jumper lol! Mr Albie very kindly jumped up with muddy paws on our walk and I'd just washed it off π€£π)
π Top Tip Tuesday! π
Is your dog freaked out by fireworks?
In preparation for New Year's Eve when there's likely to be fireworks going off in most places, I wanted to share this super cool little game that you can do to help your dog feel more at ease!
I forgot to say in the video but it's important to make sure you pause briefly before you feed them after you've said your marker word.
Hope some of you find this helpful!

You can even use wrapping paper left over from the craziness of Christmas morning to play this π
