Fractured teeth do not always have to be removed 😮🤔‼️
Ingrid, our Specialist in Veterinary Dentistry and Head of Maxillofacial Surgery, discusses the importance of saving the tooth. 🦷 🤩
Fractured teeth with pulp exposure should not be ignored, it can be treated with root canal therapy or extracted. It's crucial to act decisively instead of adopting a "wait and see" approach.
Root canal treatment can effectively rescue these teeth without encountering the complications associated with extractions.
Did you know performing a root canal often takes the same time, or less, than conducting a surgical extraction of a large tooth, like the canines or carnassials?
Compared to tooth extraction, which is a surgically invasive procedure leading to a significant deficit in the jaw, endodontic treatment (root canal) preserves the function and appearance of the tooth, resulting in a better outcome for the patient, especially for the canines and carnassial teeth.

Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) is a chronic and severely debilitating condition. It causes severe oral inflammation and ulceration. Oral hygeine can help but often multiple teeth extractions are required.

One of our largest patients. D’Angelo you are the biggest gentle giant.
How do you get ready for your weekend?
One of our patients today, Scout, prepped for a night out by getting her teeth fixed!
She came to us with a very painful fractured left mandibular canine (304). We performed root canal therapy to let her keep her tooth and avoid a traumatic extraction.
She was an exemplary patient today and we look forward to seeing her again in 6 months.
Pictures post root canal therapy and Scout with her lovely mum and dad and our friendly reception team.
Hope you all have a great weekend and we look forward to another week ahead of dentistry and oromaxillofacial surgery.
