The ladies stopped by at Glamour Pups Boutique to collect a raffle prize for the Argyll & Sutherland Pub raffle. We will always do what we can to support the local community.

Let’s talk fleas…….

Firstly, they are not something you need to be ashamed of.

2023 has brought with it, a flea epidemic. These little critters seem to be EVERYWHERE!!

I am experiencing way, way higher numbers of dogs with fleas this year and most owners don’t even realise their dog has them!

I have no issues with you bringing your dogs in to be groomed if they have fleas. All I ask is that you make regular checks through your dogs fur, paying close attention to the warmer areas of the body. If you have an appointment booked in, send me a message so we can rearrange your appointment to make you the last dog of the day. That way I can treat my salon and kill anything that may be lurking around. The other thing I ask is that you pay an additional £10.00 and the very first thing we will do is treat your dog with a highly successful flea shampoo to kill as much of the infestation as possible.

I stand by what I say; that all flea treatments that you can purchase over the counter are useless. If you can pick it up and put it straight into your trolley to buy then put it back and stop wasting your money. The most successful flea treatments require a prescription, however, I have had a few clients who treat their dogs regularly with a prescription flea treatment and their dogs have still got fleas. The vets are saying “it’s a preventative, not a cure”.

Fleas are a nightmare to get rid of. Whilst I treat your dog I need you to go home and treat your home. Spray all skirting boards with a home flea treatment and wash all dog bedding and toys on a boil wash. If your dog sleeps with you, get your bedding into a hot wash too.

Hopefully we will soon see less and less of these fleas but sadly they say we are seeing an influx due to the changes in weather.

Keep checking through the fur with a fine tooth comb. x

Remember, Remember, The Fifth of November..

Let’s also remember, remember, that dogs hear noises louder than humans and a lot of dogs are petrified of the noise a firework creates.

My own dog almost bolted this evening when a load of fireworks went off as we left the salon. Tbf I almost left my own body in panic as they were so loud and unexpected!

I love fireworks and I love Guy Fawkes Night. But that is what it is, and in my opinion, that is what it should be….. A NIGHT, ONE NIGHT.

We can’t control this event/this time of year. But what we can control is how we deal with it for our dogs.

As you scroll through the cute photos of our little firecrackers you will also find a photo of a cute dog modelling a Happy Hoodie and another dog wearing a calming wrap. There is also a step by step of how to put this on your dog.

Both the wrap and the hoodie are great ways to help make the fireworks more bearable. The hoodie helps block out the sound and the wrap helps calm an anxious dog.

I also recommend giving them a dark area to retreat to were they will feel safe.

Please keep your dogs on lead over this period as instinct will make them run and the last thing we want is a lost, hurt, scared dog running around.

Ladies and Gentlemen it’s safe to say….. I’m done!! Well for now at least!!

I will be putting the shutter down on the salon today and it will not reopen until Monday 16th October.

It is well and truly time for a much needed and well deserved break away.

I will not be taking my work phone away with me so please know I’m not ignoring your calls or texts….. well actually I am!! However, I will reply to them all on my return.

I’m the first person to moan when anyone mentions Christmas in September, HOWEVER…

To avoid disappointment I need to make you aware that my diary for December is already filling up, especially the week before Christmas.

If you want a December appointment I advise you get booked in now or risk having a dirty pooch sat under your Christmas tree 😜 x

A dog loves unconditionally and they aren’t here for a long time so make sure they know how special they are in your world.

I’m so blessed to have so many fur-babies come through the salon door but tonight the tears are tripping me because as amazing as it is to welcome your babies it is equally as heartbreaking to say goodbye xx

Some babies just light up your life the moment you meet them and Jax was one of those babies for me. He made me melt each time I got to cuddle him.

I was so happy to know he had been welcomed into the most loving home when he needed it and even happier when his human picked me to be his groomer.

Jax has been struggling in recent months and sadly it is time to say goodbye. His humans have a few days left to love him until they simply carry him in their hearts.

I’m going to miss you gorgeous boy. I know you will enjoy running free of pain over that rainbow bridge with all who have gone before you. Our loss will be heavens gain.

Over the next few days please give him plenty of kisses from me and let him know I loved him millions xx

Cooper has been in for an Emmi-pet teeth cleaning session. We got his front teeth sparkling white and his back teeth have made a huge improvement.

As Cooper was such a good boy during the session we finished off with a toothbrush treat to say well done! x

Can anyone help...

We are trying to find a loving home for a cat in need.

He is an 11 year old Ragdoll cat called Frodo who has been well loved for all of his life.

He is a house cat and never goes outdoors so an indoor life is all he knows and what he needs.

He recently lost his human mummy as she was needed in heaven so Frodo is without someone to love him and give him the attention he deserves. He needs to be loved until the end of his days as much as his human loved him.

He has an overactive thyroid but leads a perfectly normal life with medication.

If you could potentially be Frodo’s new human or you know someone who could be then please get in touch.

Let’s give Frodo a happy ending and we know there will be an angel looking down on you from heaven with a grateful smile x
