What a lovely way to end the week.
On a training walk with Terry today after Mr Fozzy had his go of course!
we practiced

strangers approach

He did so well that the lovely people at the church, where we were practicing, very kindly offered me an ice cream.
What wonderful positive reinforcement for me. 🍧😂

The family have been doing an amazing Job helping Fozzie just to having a landshark, aka Terry, for a brother & the Landshark is learning how to adjust in the world he's living.

A huge Adore Paws Posse welcome to the wonderful Willow 😍.
(What a fantastic name choice, just saying 😜🤣)

Willow and her dad have joined the posse for some 121 training and confidence building, as poor willow can be a anxious girlie in our big scary world & she does like to shout, well more of a scream and meerkat stance when she sees cats.🐈🙉🙈

So while dad was away having fun for a few days, I had the pleasure of getting to know willow and doing 4 training visits with her.
This enabled me to put some basic ground work in & kick start the training for them.

Let's help share awareness with My Anxious Dog UK

If you see a dog wearing yellow please give them extra space.
Both the owner and the dog will really appreciate it.💜

We're not nasty, we're not bad, we are not even mean.
We are just a bit scared or nervous sometimes.
All you need to do is give us some space, and the world feels much less frightening sometimes.
When my human asks you to call your dog back, its not beccause they think your dogs bad or naughty either, We just like different things.
And they are just trying to help me feel safe.
Next time you see a dog wearing yellow, will you do something for me?
Just give them a little more space. It will mean the world to us 💛

Happy 6th Barkday Chase, Misty and all the other siblings.

Where has that time gone?
It seems like only yesterday, I was pushing him in a buggy with his Newfie siblings in tow 🤣

In true chase fashion he had his "cheeky chase" head on for his barkday.
He was eyeing up going for a swim in the river rather than listening to my beautiful singing (How rude) but my singing won, kinda. 😂 🤣

And moo was his usual hilarious rollypolly self. 🥰

As an accredited trainer with the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers), I need to complete a set amount of CPD (Continued Personal Development) hours each year to renew my membership.
This ensures I stay current with the latest kind, ethical, and science-based training methods, allowing me to expand my knowledge to better assist you.

With the government announcing new legislation regarding XL Bullies, I found it fitting to sign up for Trevor Cooper's Dog Law seminar in January. I had the pleasure of seeing him speak a few years ago, and his seminars cater to both pet owners and professionals.

If you're keen on learning more about how the law can impact you and your pooch, attending one of these seminars would be a valuable experience you won't regret.

What strange things do your dogs do with their snacks?

Willow has taken to only eating the toes of the dehydrated chickens feet 🤣 and she likes to leave the fluffy ends of the bunny ears. Funny girl.

So rather than wasting them we save them up for when her 5 cousins, Ted, Jim, Cybil, Totes & Chico come round for a play.
Then they all get to enjoy the left overs, including Willow! 🤦😂🤣

If you have ever owned or lived with a nervous, anxious or reactive dog it can be hard work, emotionally and physically.

There are very few people in the world specifically set out to own and live with a dog that shows these quirks, the rest of us, well, we stubble into by complete accident! (that's why I became a trainer)

Having a reactive dog is an emotional rollercoaster, but no one ever talks about the first feeling nearly everyone goes through: grief.

When you realise your dog is reactive, it's normal to grieve for the dog you'd imagined. You long for the dog you could take on long walks before collapsing into a country pub together... and they're simply not there.

Grief isn't straightforward, and you can bounce between all of the stages regularly, or skip some out altogether. In fact, it's so personal that there're LOADS of different models out there - not just the typical 5-step one below.

Regardless of your personal grieving journey, they say that grief never truly goes away; you just learn to cope with it. And coping is a damn sight easier when you can talk to others and share experiences.

Kids Around Dogs (KAD) is an association of professionals who specialise in working with families and schools to educate children and dogs to live in harmony together.
