It's been ages since we've posted about new fish, so what better way to start back up than with four stunning Siamese Fighters! We had eight beautiful fish arrive, and these are the four that stayed still enough for a picture! π

It's that time again! The Practical Fishkeeping Magazine Readers' Poll is open and inviting you to vote for your favourite aquatics and local fish stores in the United Kingdom. The Poll gives you, the aquarium-shopping public, a clear voice on who you think has gone above and beyond, or simply deserves long-due recognition. For us, your votes mean a huge 'thank you' to our hard-working teams in what can often be a thankless job. The Poll only takes a minute or so to complete and your votes really do make a difference to us, so please show your love for your local Maidenhead Aquatics store today!
As with all previous years, The Readers' Poll is entirely democratic - one person, one vote. And it relies on you to make it happen! Voting ends 19th September 2024 at 23.59. Votes will be counted and announced November 21st 2024.

Good news! We now have a new RO unit fitted, so we are able to produce RO water and pre-mixed Salt water as normal. We apologise again for the inconvenience of the last week or so, and appreciate your understanding! ππ
Our primary RO unit is still out of action, but we do have a temporary unit now in place. However, our RO production is incredibly slow, and we only have a very limited supply.
There's a replacement unit on the way to us, but for the time being we are having to ration our RO to 25 litres per person.
We understand that this is a very frustrating solution, and we again apologise for any inconvenience this causes. All being well, we'll have our replacement unit in place early next week.
For larger quantities of RO or Saltwater, our sister store at Maidenhead Aquatics Fareham will be more than happy to help.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we're currently unable to produce RO or Saltwater. We're working to have this fixed as soon as we can, and we're hoping we'll have at least a temporary solution in place later today.
If anyone is in desperate need of water in the meantime, our nearest sister store is Maidenhead Aquatics Fareham, who will be happy to assist.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.

It wouldn't be an Easter Weekend unless we have a massive delivery of pond plants arrive! We've got the first Lilies in of the season, and have absolutely rammed our courtyard with oxygenators and marginals!
Pet Shop Licence Number: LC201802-482
Easter may be early this year, but it's still come around very quickly! We're open as normal today and tomorrow (Saturday 30th), but we will be CLOSED on Easter Sunday (31st April), and running slightly reduced hours on Easter Monday (1st April)!
Hopefully the horrible weather holds off and everyone has a lovely Easter Weekend! π₯°π°π
Easter is just around the corner, but these are not the eggs we expected to see! Two of our Frogfish (Antennarius maculatus) have laid eggs this week (which of them are the parents we have no idea, but we're very excited!) π₯°
Hopefully the eggs are viable and we're able to raise our own baby Frogfish! πΈ π

It's been slowly approaching for a while, but we can't deny Pond Season any longer!
We've spent the last couple of weeks moving, organising (and re-organising!) all of our shelving to make room once again for Pond Season! We've got an exciting new line of pond equipment from Laguna now available in store, as well as equipment from OASE UK and Blagdon!
The first of our many pond plant deliveries has also arrived, and we've got a lovely selection of oxygenators and marginals available, with something to suit every pond! πͺ·πΊπΌ
Hopefully, our pond fish will be available in the next couple of weeks; we're waiting for the water temperatures to stabilise to ensure it's fully safe to sell them! Watch this space for pond fish availability! π

Bellus Angels (Genicanthus bellus) are a stunning reef-safe species of Angelfish that are a beautiful centrepiece for most marine aquariums. Generally, Bellus Angels adapt well to captivity, and can be kept singly, as a male-female pair, or as a single male with a harem of females. Born female (a white fish with blue-black stripes), they can transition to male (a white-grey fish with a yellow dorsal fin, and yellow lateral stripe across the body), if there are no other male fish present, and then back to female if needed.
As a mostly peaceful fish, Bellus Angels can be kept with a variety of tank mates (they may pose a slight threat to smaller peaceful fish, or other closely related species of Angelfish).
Our little female Bellus is settling in well, and we can't seem to put enough food in for her!

We had our first fish delivery of the year last week, and we're starting off strong with three new incredibly beautiful Siamese Fighters! ππ
We've had a top up of both tropical and marine fish, and we're going to be working hard to get the systems back up and running at full capacity in the next couple of weeks! π

Nope! They're very much enjoying their lunch! π¦
We've been very busy the last couple of weeks preparing for Christmas! There's a lovely selection of Coldwater, Tropical and Marine fish in stock and available (and we have one more lot of deliveries arriving next week!).
As usual, the pictures don't do our fishies any justice! ππ
Every year seems to go faster than the last, but this year in particular has flown by for us! We hope that everyone has a lovely festive period, and we'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
As usual, we will be Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day ππ

As custom orders go, these Flashing Tilefish (Hoplolatilus chlupatyi) are pretty special! As their name suggests, this species of fish can quite literally "flash" different colours, and look spectacular while doing so π
South American Puffers (Colomesus asellus) are an energetic and relatively sociable species suitable for medium- large aquaria. These puffers are happiest kept in groups, but plenty of swimming space and visual barriers are needed to prevent conspecific fighting. Colomesus are best kept as species only, but will tolerate tankmates (tankmates need to be short-finned and fast swimming to keep out of nipping distance). Most meaty foods will be devoured within minutes, and reguluar offerings of hard-shelled invertebrates (snails, cockle) are essential for beak maintenance. As with all species of puffers, good filtration, high levels of oxygen and plenty of flow are needed. Pet Shop Licence Number: LC201802-482
Sand-sifting gobies, such as this Orange Spot Goby (Valenciennea puellaris) take large gulps of sand and expel it through their gills. Very fine gill rakers allow them to sort tiny invertebrate foods from small grains of sand. As they sift through the substrate, they help to keep the bottom of the tank free from algae and diatoms which may settle on the sand. Pet Shop Licence Number: LC201802-482
Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon bipartitus) are an incredibly beautiful but delicate species requiring a very mature and peaceful environment. They require stability and ample foraging opportunities. (Pet Shop Licence Number: LC201802-482) This little Wrasse has been imported from Sri Lanka
