Alot of people ask me how I got into this line of work. The simple answer? Because I LOVE dogs.
I started out as a foster mum for dogs who wasn’t coping in the kennels in Spain - Spanish Stray Dogs. I had many foster furbabies over the years, all of them I remember fondly. After a short while I started getting requests off friends, and friends of friends asking if I could look after their dogs while they went away. Poochies was born!
It was super hard work for a while. Never running my own business before and not having the first clue where to start! I had a part time job as a sales assistant at a bookmakers and worked my doggy business around that for nearly 2 years. I literally worked 7 days a week 365 days a year. Dont get me wrong, I loved it but I just couldn’t see how my business would work. Ive never been business minded, I was more of a ‘be told what to do and do it’ kind of girl. Luckily I had great friends and Mum who told me to just go for it, and I’m so glad I did. Having full focus and more time to concentrate on what I do best, Poochies has grown to what it is today, and continues to get better and more well known as time goes on. Every day, whether its around Bestwood, the Hobbucks or even in Asda, I get people stopping to talk to me about the dogs. This is what it must feel like to be famous I’m sure! ;)
So thankyou to everyone who believed I could do it and to all my amazing furry clients. Without them I would still be sat behind a desk being miserable.
