This is an update on how Rosy's doing now. This was taken tonight.
32 days ago, our little Rosy, the Yorkshire Terrier, who many of you will have met at our events, had a seizure and fell on to the radiator valve while we were out. I came home while Rebecca was at the hairdressers and to my horror, she was lying lifeless near the front door.
I picked her up and she moved her leg, so I rushed her up to the vets. She was admitted but it didn't look good. I rushed to pick Rebecca up and we went straight back to the vets. She was in such a critical condition that the vet advised us to put her to sleep but Rebecca was determined to give her a chance.
An x-ray revealed she had fractured her skull and has a floating piece of bone. Her heart rate was very low and the pupils in her eyes were uneven. She also had concussion and we thought she was going to die. The neuro surgeon said he'd never seen anything like it and he couldn't operate, even if it was possible because her skull was so thin.
We took her home that evening and the next 2 weeks were very challenging. She needed round the clock care. She couldn't open her mouth properly and Rebecca had to liquidise her food. She couldn't even sit up straight, let alone walk. This video is from 2 weeks ago.
The strength this little girl is showing is proving that we were right to not put her to sleep. At present she can not only get up and walk although she's a bit wobbly but she doesn't tend to fall over now. She can now eat properly, especially her favourite Schmacko's and plays with her toys, recognises everybody and wags her tail.
So, although the future is unknown as to how much she can recover, if she doesn't get any better from now she still has a good quality of life. It's still early days in her recovery from a brain injury. Join us on Sunday at the event at Greasley Sports Hall and say hello to her. She'll be delighted and so will we.
In the comments is a video of how she is doing now.
