Mac the Border Collie has just completed his two night trial holiday with us. He’s a gorgeous boy and very sweet and just loves a ball. He was great on the trial and made many new friends. It was great to have Mabel back for another stay with Barking Mad Edinburgh. We almost didn’t recognise her with her new short hair style. Mabel is thought to be a Rough Collie Cross we can certainly see that in her body and tail, in the face not so much! We adore Mabel and look forward to seeing her again in the future.

Westies Anna and Jamie passed their trial two night stay with us with flying colours. Anna is ten years old and her new pal is Jamie who is six months old now. This has been a terribly sad week as we said goodbye to our beloved host Joy after a very short battle with cancer. Joy was one of the very first hosts to join our Barking Mad family. Her real name was Lynda and her dad gave her Joy as a nickname because as a child she brought so much Joy. Her dad was not wrong. Joy was a truly wonderful host and a great friend. She loved dogs of all shapes and sizes from Chihuahuas to Weimaraners. She even loved the naughty one that climbed on her kitchen worktops and ate eleven eggs, shells and all from an egg holder and half a loaf of bread from the bread bin! I always loved driving to Joy’s with a dog we always got such a warm welcome and I really enjoyed our chats, laughs and time together. I also knew she loved taking great care of the dogs and that they were treated like one of her own. Our thoughts are with her daughter Jo and her family and friends at this difficult time.

For 18 months since joining Barking Mad we’ve been waiting for a sheltie to board, then two come along at once! Skye and Isla’s mum asked if they could stay with our shelties of course we said yes! They were perfect house guests during their two night trial, and all the dogs got on great. We’re looking forward to having them again for two weeks in September. Sheltie heaven!
