JUST ONE SPOT IN THE COMING PUPPY CLASSES LEFT!

This block of PUPPY GROUP CLASSES starts on FEBRUARY 25th at 10 am.

I’m an ABTC registered dog trainer in Colinton. And I use positive reinforcement methods only.

Group Classes run over 5 sessions, 45 min each, with a maximum of 4 puppies in a class, which gives me a chance to pay more individual attention to each pup.

Check out the feed here or my Instagram page to see what we are doing in the classes: https://www.instagram.com/headstartdogtraining/

Group Classes are the best investment you can make into a happy relationship and the strongest bond with your pup.

Your pup will learn good manners, proper greetings with other dogs, listening to you when other dogs are around and working around distractions. And you will get clear instructions and video lessons as a reminder.

WHY ATTEND THE ADOLESCENT GROUP CLASSES?

You attended the puppy classes and everything was going great: your puppy was listening, coming back when called 100% and walking nicely on the lead near your side.

Then suddenly everything has changed. It seems like your pup forgot all of the training. They don’t always come when called, they start pulling on the lead and it seems that they don’t hear you in general.

They’ve hit the adolescence (“teenage”) period. This could happen any time between 6 months and 2 years of age.

Your pup is becoming much more independent. They are eager to explore the world around them, hence the pulling on the lead and no desire to come back to you when there are so many smells and other dogs around.

The Adolescent Group Classes will first of all help you gain your confidence in training back. You did everything right, the pup didn’t forget anything, you just need some extra instruments to get the connection back.

Secondly, your pup will continue learning to listen to you when there are such enticing distractions around, which is really important at this stage of their life.

These classes will help you progress your training and get your “pup’s hearing” back.

PUPPY SOCIALISATION

Mistakenly many people think that puppy socialisation means just playing with other puppies.

But it is so much more. Puppy socialisation includes:

🐶 Observation of "life passing by”.

You can sit with your puppy in their pen in front of your house. Watch the world go by whilst your puppy enjoys a Kong or other food puzzle. This will help your pup to stay more relaxed in other places too.

🐶 Meeting strangers indoors and outdoors.

🐶 Meeting kids.

🐶 Meeting and playing with other dogs and other animals.

🐶 Correct introduction to new objects at home and on the walks.

These objects could be the vacuum cleaner, the broom, his/her brushes, even glasses and hats, etc.

🐶 Introduction to new sounds.

You can help your puppy not be scared of fireworks or not react to a doorbell with barking.

🐶 Handling at the vet's or groomer's.

🐶 Going to new places: public parks, hiking trails, cafes (indoors & outdoors), malls (if pets are allowed), different stores or any other places you want to take your dog to in the future.

If you do all this in the early age, you will raise a confident and happy dog.
