Hey guys! A bit of a bittersweet post for you all today.

I am excited to announce the next chapter of this crazy adventure of mine! As of 07/03/2022, I will be handing over the reins of the salon to Anna at GlamDog Anna's Grooming as I shift my focus to building my own family. Anna is an accomplished groomer with many years experience in all breeds and has proven herself to be an exemplary addition to any salon.
Although I have loved taking care of all your pups and will dearly miss grooming, I am confident that Anna is more than capable of exceeding all your expectations.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you all for your support over the years.
It has been an extraordinary journey but I feel now is the time to pack up my shop, take a break from grooming and throw myself headfirst into the next chapter of my life: Motherhood.

What exciting times lie ahead 😁

Please do not forget to head over to Anna's page (linked below) to check out her amazing work and show her all the support you have been gracious enough to show me over the years.

🐶Price Increase 2022🐶

Hi everyone! Due to the ever growing costs for supplies, equipment, maintenance, rent and ongoing training there will be a small price increase taking effect from January 2022.

I never take any price increases lightly but in order to stay in business I have to keep up with inflation to ensure I can continue to afford the many expenses that come with running a small business.

If you have any questions on exactly how much your dogs groom will be increasing please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will help any way I can.

Thanks so much! 😁

🎉EXCITING NEWS AT PAWSITIVELY SPOILED🎉

As some of you may already know, I am delighted to announce that I am expecting a baby in March. I would like to, first of all, take this opertunity to thank everyone who has supported me and my business over the past few years and those who continue to support me. Its certainly a very exciting time for Darren and I but it does mean that there will be some temporary changes at Pawsitively Spoiled in the near future.

👶🏻What will happen with my appointment?👶🏻

At the moment I am unable to groom larger dogs until I return from my maternity leave and I am only able to groom medium sized dogs until February. I have already contacted anyone who will be affected by this change if they were already booked in but if you have any questions just get in touch and I will be happy to help in any way I can.

👶🏻When are you on maternity leave?👶🏻

I am starting my maternity leave from the 5th of March 2022 and I am only planning on taking 2/3 months off, depending on how everything goes with our new addition. As I do not have a definitive date for coming back please just let me know if you would like me to add you to my list and I will personally let you know as soon as I am able to groom your dog again.

👶🏻How will I know what size category my dog falls into?👶🏻

If you have any questions/concerns about when your dog can be booked in please just let me know and I will do my best to help. That may be booking an appointment for your pooch or reccomending another one of Whitburns very talented groomers to take over while I am unable to service your dog.

Once again I would like to express my intense gratitude for those who have supported me and continue to do so during this time. Please do get in touch if any questions come to mind and I hope to see you all soon! Xx

🎆BONFIRE NIGHT IS HERE🎆

A time of great celebration for some but a night of dread and worry for others. Humans with PTSD or sensory issues, wildlife and our beloved pets will no doubt be anxious tonight but there are a few steps you can take to make sure your pooches are kept as calm as possible during the festivities later.

🐾 Keep walks to daylight hours when fireworks are less likely to go off.

🐾 Keep your dogs on lead and close to you at ALL times incase a firework unexpectedly goes off, a frightend dog can take off into the distance very quickly.

🐾 Make sure their collars/harnesses are done up to fit correctly so they can not be slipped out of. You can walk them in both a collar and harness with leads attached to both for extra security if needed. (A frightened dog will panic and try to escape their lead/harness).

🐾 If they need to go into the garden take them out on the lead. A frightened dog can easily clear a 6ft fence.

🐾 Create a 'safe' place for them to hide in the home, a crate covered with a blanket or a den between chairs usually works well. Dogs are den animals so having somewhere to hide will help them calm down. Don't try to coax them out of their safe space and don't try to invade their space either. Let them have their safe space to themselves. Just check up on them often.

🐾 Close doors, windows & curtains and have the radio / TV on to drown out the sound / light of the fireworks.

🐾 Act normal... if you are worried or act differently your dog will sense it and it may make their anxiety worse.

🐾 Make sure your dogs microchip details are up to date and that they are wearing an identity tag should the worst happen.

🐾 If your dog is particularly frightened of fireworks you can buy Adaptil sprays, thundershirts and snoods that seem to work well or you can get stronger medication from your vet.

🐾 If your dog does sadly go missing ensure you inform your local dog warden, microchip company, vets and rehoming group as soon as possible.

I hope everyone has a peaceful night tonight and if you are going to a public display please do not take your dog with you, their hearing is much more sensitive than ours so they will be better off at home where the noise can be drowned out xx

MASSIVE well done to for banning fireworks from its shelves. This is great news for our furry friends who struggle around bonfires night.
They originally banned them a few years ago but have confirmed the change is here to stay.
are also selling silent fireworks this year too so let's be sure to support these supermarket giants taking big steps towards a better, kinder future for all our family members... human or not 😁

I will still be closing up shop earlier over the bonfire period because people will still undoubtedly set off fireworks like every year before but this is still a massive step in the right direction!

15/06/2021

🐶❣PUPPIES❣🐶

With the Covid Puppy Boom still in full swing I thought I'd make a post reminding you all of my puppy packages available!

📋What does the puppy package include?📋

Our puppy packages are available until your pup turns one year old and will include their introduction to grooming and, if applicable, their first ever haircuts!
Exactly what your pup gets will depend on what kind of coat they have, if they have been to a groomers before and how they cope in the grooming environment.
Short haired dogs will get their coat conditioner and deshedding service while longer haired dogs would have their coats brushed out and their haircut.
Both long and short haired pups will receive their bath, nails clipped, a general health check and desensitisation to the whole grooming process and any tools used.

💷How much will the puppy package cost?💷

The puppy package will cost 50% of the estimated adult grooming cost, excluding any extra fees that may need to be applied (matting/fleas).
This may change as the pup ages depending on how their size/coat type compares to the average for their breed or mix.

😱Will having my pup groomed scare them?😱

At Pawsitively Spoiled I pride myself on taking the whole grooming process at the dogs own pace. This means that I will only do what the dog is comfortable letting me do and stopping if it becomes too much. This ensures as stress free an environment as possible to give your pup the best possible experience with grooming.
Your pup will decide exactly what we do and when we do it.

🗓How often should I book my pup in?🗓

Depending on their breed/mix your puppy should come in for grooming at least every 6-8 weeks.
If you feel they need to be coming in more regularly then that's certainly something I can accommodate however I wouldn't leave it any less frequently than 8 weeks especially if its a long haired pup.
Adult short haired dogs can be booked in every 10-12 weeks but they should stay on a 6-8 week schedule as puppies to help desensitise them to being groomed.

⏰How long will a puppy pamper take?⏰

It varies from pup to pup but the average puppy pamper can take between 2-4 hours depending on the breed/mix. It may take longer, it may be shorter. It all depends on the puppy in front of me at the time.

🐩Is there anything I should do between my pups grooming appointments?🐩

Absolutely! Brush your dog at least once a day, this will not only help get them used to brushing before they even come into the salon but it will also prevent your pups coat from becoming matted. The last thing a groomer wants to do is shave off a fluffy coat but if a pup is matted it will be shaved. Matting is painful for dogs and just adds extra trauma to a puppies grooming visit as it is also painful to remove.
We want to make sure the pups visits to the groomer are positive but to do that the coat has to be maintained at home between visits.
You could also try getting the pup used to being held at home by standing them up, holding their paws and also holding under their chins. Lots of praise and affection during this practice will mean pup will be far less stressed when it comes time for their haircuts/deshedding services and health checks.

🛁When can my pup have their first grooming session?🛁

Your pup can come in for grooming two weeks after their second set of jags at the vets. They cannot come in sooner than that as they are still vulnerable to various diseases then but the can come in as soon as those two weeks have passed. The sooner they come in, the easier grooming will be for them in the long run.

✏Can I book in now?✏

In general it is best to give as much notice as possible when booking your appointments but especially for puppies as they require extra long appointments just to make sure they are comfortable during their pamper session.
Right now, on the 15th of July, my soonest puppy appointment i have available is the 25th of August. Thats a full 10 weeks away! 😨
My adult grooming appointments are currently 7-8 weeks away so if you'd like booked in please please PLEASE don't leave it last minute or I simply won't be able to book you in.

📞How can I get in touch to get more info or to make an appointment?📞

You can call, text or message me anytime either by using Facebook messenger or buy my works number 07713997414.
Please feel free to let me know if you'd like booked in or if you have any questions for me regarding your pups pamper session. Even if you just need advice for grooming at home, I'll help in any way I can.

☀️☀️☀️☀️

Hey everyone, just a quick reminder to keep a really close eye on your pups today. With temperatures SOARING to 20°+ today they run the risk of heat stroke and burned paws.

Hot concrete is no joke so if you cannot hold your bare hand on the pavement for 5 seconds with ease then it's 🔥TOO HOT🔥for your dogs bare paws.

I've just been outside and I struggled to keep my hand on the ground so please avoid walking your dogs until later in the evening when the sun is not as high in the sky and the temperature is not quite so hot.

The best time to walk your dogs in this weather is early morning or in the evening, please do NOT take your dogs out in the middle of the day with these kind of temperatures. It may be lovely for us but it can be deadly for our pooches.

If you MUST walk your dog in the afternoon/mid morning then try to limit their time on concrete, stick to the grassy areas as much as possible and try to only be out for a few minutes at a time.

To cool your pet down you can wet a towel and rub that all over them, ensuring to get to the skin on fluffier dogs. Please don't just dip them in cold water or splash them as this dramatic temperature change can send them into shock 😱

Cool, fresh water, a cold, damp towel to lie on and plenty of access to shade should help your pup through this heat.

Another thing to remember is that giving them ice cubes can actually RAISE their internal temperature so water really is the best way to cool them off.

Enjoy this wonderful weather we are having safely and if you see any signs of heat stroke with your dog, please call your vet. It's much better to be safe than sorry.

I hope everyone is enjoying this gloriously sunny bank holiday 😁
