This is great website to compare dog food of different brands.
You'll find all information and analysis you need, including links to purchase chosen food.

When it comes to dry dog food, the best option for our pup is Cold-pressed food because food prepared this way retains most of the nutrients. Therefore, the worst choice is Extruded food, which is ultra-processed (subjected to very high temperatures) and is therefore devoid of most of its nutritional value.
When choosing such food, we should pay attention to nutritional additives. They should be in the form of chelates, not sulfates. So, for example, we want Zinc Chelate and not Zinc Sulfate in dog food. Nutrient additives in the form of sulfates are not absorbed by the dog's body, they basically pass through the dog without being absorbed.
It is also worth paying attention to the amount of meat and carbohydrates in a given food. It is important that there is more meat than carbohydrates. Too many carbs in dog's diet may result in pancreas problems later in life.
Plus we need to remember that dogs get most of their nutrients from meat. Vegetables and fruits are a great addition and some contain a lot of essential dietary fiber, but the main component of a dog's diet should be meat (muscles and offal).

It is with deep sadness that I am sharing with our friends that my Dad, Dominic Senior, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday morning due to a hemorrhage on the Brain. He would have been 85 on 5th December.

Dad, we loved you when you were here and we'll continue to love you now you're gone. Give mum a hug from us. Rest in Peace ❀️

Spring is upon us and its lovely to see those daffodils growing signifying new life, fresh beginnings and dare we say it….warmer weather?

Now is the time of year to pay attention to things growing in the garden. We all know our daxies like to dig, and this may mean they expose bulbs of various plants.

Do you know which common spring plants or bulbs are toxic to dogs?

Here’s a few that may surprise you:

Daffodil or Narcissus bulbs (the worse bit), flowers and leaves can cause an upset stomach or vomiting if eaten. In extreme cases, they can even cause dogs to have fits. Even the water they have been sitting in can be toxic!

Tulips and Hyacinth bulbs can irritate dogs’ mouths and gastrointestinal tract, resulting in drooling, vomiting and diarrhoea. Serious cases are rare but heart problems and difficulty breathing are also symptoms of Tulip poisoning.

Bluebells and their bulbs can reduce heart rate causing vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy and disorientation in dogs.

The most likely effect is an upset stomach, however as with us all dogs have sensitivities which may see worse reactions.

Its always best to be safe. If you suspect your dog has eaten any bulb or flower, speak to your vets and ask them what you should do.
