Staff dog Kiera was enjoying the underwater treadmill at her latest Hydrotherapy session with our Physio, Jenny 😍

Our underwater treadmill is a powerful tool that combines low-impact exercise with the therapeutic properties of water to provide a unique & effective form of rehabilitation & fitness for dogs. It’s particularly beneficial for dogs recovering from injury, surgery, or those dealing with chronic conditions like arthritis. The warm water increases circulation & flexibility, while the weightlessness reduces stress on painful joints & bones, allowing for pain-free movement.

Meet staff dog Tess; a strong girl demonstrating her home exercises 💪🏻

Unstable surfaces such as our paw pods & wobble cushions create a balance challenge, developing the stability of joints & integrity of postural muscles. Obstacles such as yoga blocks can be used to create height & adjust your pet's centre of gravity to load specific limbs during isometric work & can be added to progress more active work as your pet's strength improves. Our physiotherapist can create an individual home exercise plan tailored to your pet's conditioning goals!

Meet Maple 🍁

Maple had an aural hematoma, which is a blood-filled swelling in her ear flap that occurred after a blood vessel burst in her ear.

Buttons are used to treat aural hematomas in dogs & cats by holding the ear flap together to prevent the hematoma from refilling.

After a couple of weeks of having her buttons (& her cone of shame!), they were removed by our team 😊 she was such a good girl 🐾

ADDER BITES: Here’s what to do! ⏬ 🐍 Keep your dog close to you or on a lead around areas known for Adder populations - this will stop them from bothering the snakes & the likelihood of the snakes striking. 🐍 If an Adder has bitten your pet, call your vet immediately, & if possible, carry your pet to stop the venom from spreading. 🐍 Even if you have been on a walk & haven't seen your pet get bitten but are acting out of character or notice any swellings, call your vet to be safe. As we go through these warmer months, we will likely see more Adders basking in the sun, where they are likely to be bothered by your pets!

Meet Minnie, one of our lovely Physio patients 🥰 poor Minnie had a little spell in intensive care recently, but as you can see she is now fully recovered & has regained her ferocious appetite 😍

They might not be as obvious with it as dogs, but cats have their ways of showing their love ⏬ 💗 If your cat’s tail is upright, they are content & safe & if it has a quiver at the top… this means you have a very happy cat! 💗 Purring is usually a sign that your cat is happy & content, but it can have other meanings such as feeling nervous at the vets 💗 Giving you a cheeky cheek rub or a gentle head-butt, they are marking their scent on you, & is a way they build up bonds with other animals. 💗 & finally… rolling over allowing you to rub their belly is the ultimate sign of trust & love! Let us know if you spot any of the above signs in your cat… photos are always welcome 😽 #ValentinesDay

How does our four-legged friend show their love? Let’s have a look 🐶 💗 When your dog chooses to come cuddle up to you (on their terms), they trust you, they love you & they want to be close to you! 💗 That helicopter tail wag? This type of tail behaviour is for people who they love the most. 💗 Eye contact, but with soft relaxed eyes shows that your dog has level of trust in you & wants you to know about it. #ValentinesDay
