Happy International Zebra Day πŸ¦“

Today, we are celebrating our amazing Grevy's zebra – Azizi, Daniella and Grace.

🌍 Grevy's zebra are the largest zebra species and a true icon of the African savannah. They are easily recognized by their narrow stripes and large, mule-like ears.

πŸ’› With around 2,000 remaining in the wild, this endangered species is threatened by habitat loss, competition with livestock, and droughts.

We are sad to share the loss of Kevyn, our eldest male red panda, who passed away this weekend πŸ’›

At 14 years old, Kevyn had been facing age related health issues and was being cared for closely by our expert keepers and vets.

After spending 10 years at Highland Wildlife Park and fathering seven kits, he moved to Edinburgh Zoo in 2022, where he has been living with our new female, Priya. He was a favourite among staff and visitors during his time at both our charity’s zoos and will be hugely missed.

Can you help care for the rescued lynx?

Abandoned in a freezing forest in the Scottish Highlands, our charity is giving the three lynx a safe, warm home and veterinary care so they can recover.

You can help to give these traumatised animals the chance to regain their health. With your support our charity's dedicated keepers can give each animal the best of care.

We're celebrating Burns Night early, with our very own Robert Burns impersonator, who has delivered a delightful ode to Haggis 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

In honour of the Bard's way with words, our new take on the Address to a Haggis is a toast to both Scottish tradition and one of our most beloved zoo residents.

You can adopt Haggis and her family πŸ‘‰ adoption.edinburghzoo.org.uk

The culprit behind yesterday's snowy footprints - a western grey kangaroo!

🦘 Thanks to their large feet, kangaroos can leap 30 feet in a single bound and travel more than 30mph
🦘 A group of kangaroos is called a mob
