We were thrilled to learn that Mr Marshall, whose rescue dog Amber we supported within our Veterinary Aid Scheme previously, had recently raised a huge £1,128.65p to directly benefit DAS, via his fund-raising endeavours in his home town.

Our grateful thanks go out to Mr Marshall; his efforts and the cash raised are very much appreciated. It will help us and our ongoing mission to ensure that everyone knows about the help which is available via DAS if they have challenges caring for their dog.

DAS promotes responsible dog ownership through our programmes and schemes – Neutering Voucher Scheme, Veterinary Aid Scheme, Training Advice and we also provide help and assistance with rehoming dogs from and within Scotland.

Dog Aid Scotland currently spends in the region of £500,000 every year providing vital services. As a charity we receive no Government funding and rely solely on the generosity of the public through donations, memberships, and legacies.

If you are interested in fundraising or Volunteering for Dog Aid Scotland, keep an eye on our website for some very exciting news!

Bear is looking for a new home 🏡

Name: Bear
Breed: German Shepherd
Gender: Spayed female
Age: 4 years old
Is Bear suitable to live with children? : Yes, 14 years and older
Is Bear suitable to live with cats? : No
Is Bear suitable to live with other dogs? : No

Bear is a beautiful girl looking for a new home that must have experience with German Shepherds and it would be ideal if there is experience with reactive dogs too. Bear gets on well with people but is scared of other dogs. She would love a home in the countryside as she is used to that environment and would not be comfortable in busier areas.

Bear has mild hip dysplasia and takes daily medication. This would be covered by our Food and Vet Fund for dogs we rehome with pre-existing conditions.**

Bear barks when visitors come to the house, when she hears strange noises and she barks to get attention. This is another reason why Bear would ideally find a home in the country and not a flat. With strange dogs, she will bark and pull on the lead but this is out of fear; she will panic if a dog comes close to her. Bear is not comfortable living with another dog.

Bear can be left for a few hours but she suffers from separation anxiety and will howl if left alone. She is extremely excited when her owner returns. Bear is good in the car. She loves a good walk but has not been walked off-lead before due to her dog reactivity. She wears a harness and muzzle on walks. She is used to having a big garden to freely run around in so this is a must in her new home.

When at home with family, Bear is a very loving and happy dog that enjoys playing with her toys in the garden, getting attention and having company. She responds well to training and is generally very well behaved. She would do well in a home where she could learn tricks and skills such as tracking or mantrailing.

Bear is a super affectionate girl and loves being with people. She would be great for anyone who has German Shepherd experience and has the time to spend with her.

Please apply for Bear on our website www.dogaidscotland.com/dogs/bear/

*FOOD AND VETERINARY TREATMENT FUND: This fund allows Dog Aid Scotland to cover costs of pre-existing conditions once a dog has been rehomed. This means we will cover costs for vet treatment if the dog has a condition before it comes to stay with you. In this case we will covers costs relating to Bear’s hip dysplasia within reason.

Bonnie is looking for a new home 🏡

Name: Bonnie
Breed: Cockapoo
Gender: Bonnie is a spayed female
Age: 7 years old
Is Bonnie suitable to live with children? : Yes, aged 10+ but would prefer only visiting children
Is Bonnie suitable to live with cats? : No
Is Bonnie suitable to live with other dogs? : No

Bonnie is looking for a new home that is active and not located in a busy town. Bonnie would prefer to be the only dog and her new owners must have experience with dogs. It also must have a garden and no flats, please.

Bonnie is very polite when welcoming people, she will ignore them if people are not interested but she will be excited and enjoy being petted if they are. Bonnie absolutely loves getting attention and being petted. She also really loves routine. She is intelligent and responds well to commands – Bonnie is really good at communicating what she needs or wants but also at understanding what her owners are saying to her.

Bonnie is sensitive around her mouth and front legs. She shows some resource guarding, for example if she finds something while on a walk, but this can tempted from her with treats. Generally on walks, Bonnie does not bother with other dogs and does not initiate play. She can be interested in chasing cats and other small animals such as squirrels. Bonnie generally walks well and does not pull on the lead. She can be good off-lead if there are no distractions.

Bonnie can be left for a few hours but is looking for a home she can have company most of the time as that is what she is used to. She barks at unfamiliar sounds. Bonnie does not have a lot of experience travelling by car and has been sick on long, winding roads. She regularly goes to the groomer and has done well in boarding kennels.

Bonnie is a smart cookie who would thrive in a home where she can go on long walks and get her brain exercised with tricks and commands.

Please apply for Bonnie if you are ready to take on an intelligent and loving Cockapoo at www.dogaidscotland.com/dogs/bonnie/

Alfie is looking for a new home 🏡

Name: Alfie
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
Gender: Alfie is a neutered male
Age: 11 years old
Is Alfie suitable to live with children? : Yes, aged 10+
Is Alfie suitable to live with cats? : Yes, a cat that is used to dogs
Is Alfie suitable to live with other dogs? : Yes

Alfie is looking for a new home where he can have company through the day and go on lots of walks. He would love a garden to play in and would be a great companion. As Alfie is over 8 years old, he will be covered by our Old Dog Scheme in his new home.*

Alfie is really friendly with visitors to the home and he loves attention. He will settle after getting some cuddles. Alfie loves new people the same as friends! He is friendly with children too, but he is very sensitive about his feet so we have advised any children in the home should be 10 years and older.

Alfie gets on really well with other dogs, especially larger ones! He has also lived with a cat. Alfie does not seem to have separation anxiety and can be left for a few hours. Alfie also does not bark at unfamiliar sounds. He is a bit nervous in the car at first, but settles.

Alfie gets really excited for walks and may not respond to commands at first, but he gets better once he has settled into the walk. Alfie is happy to be brushed and has been to the groomers, but they need help clipping his front claws due to Alfie’s sensitivity.

Alfie loves treats, walks, treats and snoozing. He loves being the centre of attention and loves people and dogs. Alfie is a great all-rounder and is looking for a new home to have a wonderful ‘retirement’ of adventures, treats and cuddles! Please apply for Alfie if you can give him the best home at www.dogaidscotland.com/dogs/alfie-2/

*OLD DOG SCHEME: Dog Aid Scotland’s Old Dog Scheme covers dogs rehomed at 8 years old or above. This means that we will cover costs for veterinary care for the dog for the remainder of their life within reason. We do not cover costs for routine treatments such as vaccinations, worming and flea treatment. If the dog requires special dietary food we will contribute 50% of the cost. This will alleviate the worry of the financial implications taking an older dog into your home. Older dogs make great pets! Why not consider an older dog?

Yogi is looking for a new home 🏡

Name: Yogi
Breed: Shepherd / Ridgeback Cross
Gender: Yogi is a neutered male.
Age: 2 years old
Is Yogi suitable to live with children? : Yes, teenagers
Is Yogi suitable to live with cats? : No
Is Yogi suitable to live with other dogs? : No

Sweet Yogi is looking for a new home in a quiet area with no other animals in the home. He has a very high prey drive and his new owners must be very experienced and willing to continue his training. Yogi has an infectious zest for life and would thrive in an active household.

Yogi can quickly become reactive if he is overstimulated or feels threatened. This behaviour is linked to his pack mentality from his breed’s traits. Yogi’s new owner should have an understanding of this and be able to handle Yogi. His new home should be able to give Yogi firm boundaries which he will respond well to, otherwise he will take advantage and test limits.

Yogi is very friendly greeting people into the home, he is very attentive. He may be cautious at first, but warms up quickly with positive and calm attention. Yogi’s new home will need to build up his confidence. He often seeks attention when he is comfortable with someone, Yogi loves human attention. He can be very enthusiastic and energetic which is why we advise any children in the home are no younger than teenagers due to his size.

Yogi can resource guard food. He has been crate trained and finds comfort in routine. Yogi would love to live in an active household and even take part in classes to work his brain such as mantrailing or scent work, to channel his focus and athleticism. He is affectionate, smart, attentive and food-driven which are all good for training. Yogi responds well to commands.

Yogi is great on walks and loves them. He walks well on the lead and has been let off the lead but his recall needs work. He has a very high prey drive and would try to chase any farm or small animals so his owner must be aware of the surroundings. It would be best to teach him good recall in a secure area/field with no distractions. The garden in his new home should also be very secure as he has escaped in the past. He loves to play with other dogs outside, but is best being the only dog in the home. Yogi can be very protective when overstimulated but he responds well to clear boundaries during interactions with other dogs and benefits from structured introductions to ensure a positive dynamic. Yogi has recently been muzzle trained.

Yogi can be destructive when left alone in the home for a few hours. He can bark if there is a loud and sudden noise, but is fine once reassured. He has experience of kennels and behaved well. Yogi enjoys being brushed.

Yogi loves exploring outside, finding new smells on long walks and stretching his legs. He really enjoys training (with treats as positive reinforcement!) and when he does scentwork tasks – Yogi thrives on the feeling of having a purpose. Yogi absolutely loves human attention, he is really happy when he gets belly rubs or kisses and cuddles at the end of the day. Once trust is established, Yogi is the most loyal companion.

If you have a secure, active but calm home with thorough dog experience and willingness to continue Yogi’s training, please apply for him today on our website www.dogaidscotland.com/dogs/yogi/

Toby is looking for a new home 🏡

Name: Toby
Breed: Welsh Terrier Cross
Gender: Toby is a neutered male.
Age: 2 years old
Is Toby suitable to live with children? : Yes, aged 10+
Is Toby suitable to live with cats? : No.
Is Toby suitable to live with other dogs? : Yes, ideally with a well-behaved dog.

Young Toby is looking for an active new home that must be used to Terriers and is willing to continue his training. It would be great if Toby can have company most of the time and he needs to continue his training as he is very cheeky. A garden to play in is a must. He is smart, so needs his brain kept busy with tricks, games or a job. Toby is not a calm dog and he is still very young.

Toby is excited when visitors come to the home and will fetch a toy to play with them. He will eventually calm down and sit by the visitor, but he will not settle if there is another dog as he will only want to play. He is friendly with other people outside the home but will get too excited when meeting children. Toby can react by barking and jumping when cyclists or runners go by him too fast or without warning. He loves running around in a local enclosed field and is always the fastest dog. Toby loves to play with the others but sometimes gets over excited and needs to learn some manners. However, he reacts well when told off by other dogs. His recall is still being worked on and training on this and other areas should be continued in his new home. Toby responds well to positive reinforcement and loves treats!

Toby is a typical Terrier and will try to chase any small animals such as squirrels. He does not like farm animals and barks at them (he is kept on the lead). He will bark if he hears certain things or people pass the house. Toby can be left for several hours and does not seem to have separation anxiety, but would love company most of the day. He has a lot of energy and is used to having long walks every day – he loves the beach and walking up hills.

Toby is okay travelling by car, he normally calms down when music is played, but he does not enjoy noisy vehicles passing the car. Toby loves playing catch indoors and outside – he loves his ball the most. Toby may start barking at all kinds of noises if he is left alone in the garden for too long. He is intelligent and would love a new home where his brain is worked every day – he would thrive having some kind of job. However, once Toby is tired, he likes a good pet and cuddle on the sofa, and perhaps a massage (but on his terms).

Toby is a gorgeous boy with a strong character who needs further training. If you are the active and committed home with Terrier experience he is looking for, please apply for Toby on our website www.dogaidscotland.com

Heidi is looking for a new home🏡

Name: Heidi
Breed: Border Collie
Gender: Heidi is a spayed female.
Age: 3 years old
Is Heidi suitable to live with children? : Yes, aged 10+
Is Heidi suitable to live with cats? : No.
Is Heidi suitable to live with other dogs? : No.

Beautiful Heidi is looking for a new home that must have Border Collie experience and she must be the only dog in the home. Heidi will need a home willing to continue her training and it must have a garden; Heidi would love a country home. However, her new home and garden must be secure as Heidi has gone wandering in the past.

Heidi can be timid around strangers but goes up to friends happily to say hello. She can be left for a few hours and does not seem to have separation anxiety but Heidi really enjoys human company and lots of attention. She loves treats and is good at not jumping up. She is intelligent and has learned to sit, stay, wait and lie down so far. She is great at getting in the car and travels well.

Out on walks, Heidi is a typical Collie in that she is obsessed with playing ball and will ignore other dogs while playing as she is so focussed. If a dog bounces over to her and gets in her space she may growl out of fear, but generally ignores or is fine with other dogs. Heidi will pull on the lead, she wears a harness on walks. Her recall also needs work.

It would be very beneficial if Heidi’s new home has experience of Border Collies; Heidi has some quirks such as being afraid of the hoover, spray cleaners, sudden loud noises and objects or people in the dark. She is sensitive to any touch on her rear end. She has been to the groomers and kennels before and faired okay.

Heidi loves to play with humans – fetch with a ball outside and with toys inside the home. However, she is not so good at giving up toys! She has a great zest for life when she is playing or being happy to be around you. After a big play, she is very content to lie down for a snooze.

Heidi would love a calm yet playful home in the country with lots of love to give. Please apply on our website www.dogaidscotland.com/dogs/heidi/

Brian has found a new home 🏡🏡

Name: Brian
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Gender: Brian is a neutered male.
Age: 13 years old
Is Brian suitable to live with children? : Yes, aged 10+
Is Brian suitable to live with cats? : No.
Is Brian suitable to live with other dogs? : Yes.

Lovely Brian is looking for a new home only because his owner sadly passed away. Brian is looking for a quiet home where he can have company most of the time and go on good walks. As he is over 8 years old, Brian will be covered by our Old Dog Scheme when rehomed.*

Brian has separation anxiety as he was used to being with his owner all the time. He will need this in his new home as he howls when left alone. He travels well by car and is fine being left in it for a bit – he does not seem to howl while in there alone. He will jump into the car, but is used to using a ramp due to his age.

He does not like being examined by a vet so his current guardian has started muzzle training Brian, but this will need to be continued in his new home. Training support from our Welfare Team can be given if needed. He is sensitive around his feet and front legs which is why we have advised any children in the household should be 10 years or older.

Brian is a really friendly boy who loves children and other dogs. He can be convinced to do most things with treats! He also loves toys and long walks, still acting like a younger dog – he has become very playful recently as he now goes out on group dog walks and really enjoys having fun with the other dogs. He reads them well and will be respectful of any warnings. Brian was not used to going out so often until recently and is really enjoying his new adventures. He is so keen for walks now, he will make some Staffie noises to let you know! He wears a harness on walks and he is quite well behaved after the initial pulling at the start of the walk due to excitement. His recall training has only just began but he is progressing well.

Brian has a great big smile on his face most of the time! He loves a good snooze and a cuddle when he’s not making new friends or after food. He has some weight to lose but it is gradually coming off while he exercises more. Brian loves getting attention from people and could be the best friend you’re looking for.

If you have the time and love for Brian, please apply on our website www.dogaidscotland.com to give him the best home for the rest of his retirement. He still has so much energy and love to give!
