Happy New Year! Hope it's been a good one.

As this year draws to an end and your mind may be on the fun and festivities, spare a thought for your 4 legged friends! How are THEY interpreting New Years?

Some helping pointers from my colleagues over at EDB to help ease them into the new year.

✅ Keep your pets indoors while there are fireworks being set off, and consider using a lead in your fenced garden, too, just in case.

✅ Ensure your pets are wearing up-to-date ID tags and ensure microchip details are updated.

✅ Provide a place to cosy up and hide. A crate covered in a blanket makes a great den and muffles the sound a little.

✅ Consider calming products like Pet Remedy or similar.

✅ Play the radio or the TV and turn the volume up to drown out the sounds from the outside.

✅ Keep them busy with toys, games, and chews.

✅ Skip the celebrations and stay home with your pets. Don't let them suffer alone.

⚠️ If your pet ends up having a hard time, don't leave things too late next time and seek professional help sooner rather than later ❤️

It's the little wins that mean everything. For example, this picture of Gus from today's walk & train, it may not seem like anything note worthy, but this is a young dog who LOVES other dogs, choosing to sniff rather than fixate on two unknown dogs walking by. So lovely to see his training coming along

My final dog of Christmas is if course the one that started it all! I wouldn't be a dog trainer let alone a behaviourist without the tenacious, loud and loving girl that is... Juno!

Thanks for helping me find the career I was meant to do, and for being a loyal companion all these years. You are my heart and soul in dog form ❤️🥰

My 11th dog of Christmas is the ridiculously lovable... Gus! I know, I know, he's mine, but he deserves a mention! Takes everything in his stride, this big ball of bouncy love doesn't let anything get him down ❤️

Great 1-2-1 consultation with the handsome Finn today. He struggles with overexcitement when leaving his home, or when people come over as well! A very common issues amongst our pet dogs. This has also lead to a bit of reactivity on lead when outside to certain dogs. Frustration can take many forms! But he now has a plan in place to help him tackle his.

Another brilliant walk & train this morning, with a new member! Dakota! She did amazingly well, and is so chilled and relaxed for a 2 year old shepherd! Baxter took her in his stride as well and didn't relact to her at all! All happy and smiling handlers when the session finished, and well deserved!

Dog #10 is the always adorable, but occasionally lazy potato.... Lenny! Aka lentil, Len len and cutie patoutie.

Coming to the end of my but each one is just a special! Dog #9 is.... Minnie! I do love the demon stares of the miniature schnauzer, but I managed to get a more gentle look out of her for her Christmas pose! 😝

Mononoki! Aka Noki, Noodle and fluffy feet 😍 you took a while to warm to me, but now you give me kisses and hold my hand gently in your mouth like part of the family ❤️

A very cold but great walk & train tonight. Finn, who usually loudly dislikes black and white dogs, didn't even BLINK at Munro the collie joining us! Well done Finn! Baxter was a wee angel as well. Lovely to see these dogs blossoming and their handlers relaxing 👏👏

Dog #7 of my is the gorgeous Cleo! Look at her enjoying her advent calendar 😍

It's amazing how far she has come from the barking and frantic girl I met on the street all those years ago. Big shout out to her owner Claire for helping her see the world in a different, more positive way 👏👏👏

Dog #6 of my is.... Pache! Whilst not an actual daycare dog of mine, he's been boarding with me for so long, he's an honorary member of the pack! 😝😅

Another great walk & train this morning and the weather stayed nice for us 🌞☀️We did some high distraction areas today including a chuch grounds FILLED with squirrels! 🐿
