Amico is our Kennel name and it simply means “friend/pal”, this sums up the German Shepherd perfectly. I’ve been training and breeding various working dogs for over 35yrs and my passion lies in all working K9 breeds. I started training protection work in Ireland however, my turning point came when the dog trainers in the Netherlands introduced me to the KNPV Programme (Police Dog training programm

e), which predominantly uses the herder breed. I've trained dogs on a private scale over the years. My training ranges from basic obedience to more advanced personal protection work. My dogs have been placed in a US SWAT team, the bomb disposal teams, the police etc. The SWAT teams are known for their highest quality recruits and to my knowledge, I am the only person in the UK who's had a trained dog placed in a US SWAT team. The versatility in the German Shepherd has impressed me over the years, especially experiencing their immense loyalty to their human 'pack' members and their strong guarding instinct for their people and property. I have a keen interest in understanding the dogs genetics and I aim to continue the brilliant work from the German Shepherd predecessor founder, Max von Stephanitz. I do highly selective breedings and these will be posted on my page. Our dogs are DNA tested, X rayed and KC registered.
