Do you worry about leaving your kitten at the vets? Many owners do! But a lot of the time kittens are very confident and playful and love a cuddle, just like Badger, who had a great time playing with his toy a nurse gave him after his castrate operation 🥰
🎃Happy Halloween 🎃
Wishing everyone a spook-tacular Halloween 👻
If anyone is dressing up their pet we would love to see photos in the comments 🐾
Say hello to Finn 👋
Finn was brought to us from Moray Cats Protection (MCP) as he is the kitten of a feral cat within Moray. All of the kittens were a bit poorly and needed some TLC so were put into foster homes by MCP. However Finn needed some more one on one care so he stayed with one of our nurses for a couple days 🥰
Did you know that there are a number of feral cat colonies all over the UK? Including Elgin! Moray Cats Protection work hard to catch these feral cats, in a humane way, in order to neuter them and return them to the area where they were caught. They are returned rather than re-homed as they have been brought up with no human contact, so this would actually be far more stressful for them.
Neutering prevents them from breeding continuously, where kittens like Finn may end up ill and possibly not survive. Younger kittens like Finn do have the opportunity to be re-homed however as they can still be socialised with humans 😸
Finn is getting on really well and is now back with a fosterer at Moray Cats Protection where he is getting all of the extra care he needs ❤️
MCP are always looking for more volunteers so if you were interested you can find out more information via this link:

Cosy coat
✨🎁Festive Tip 🎄✨
Older dogs or dogs with thinner fur may benefit from being kept a bit warmer while out on walks. Older dogs especially as the colder weather can cause joint pain. Dry them off when you're home and keep them cosy 🔥
Mucky pups
Do you have a dog that loves to take a mud bath?! We'd love to see photos or videos of your mucky pups 🙊

A few of our staff members visited Highland Hydrotherapy yesterday to view their facilities and for our dogs to have a go! 🌊🐕
Hydrotherapy is a great way for your dog to gain better mobility and build muscle after surgery, help towards losing weight or as simply a form of exercise to keep your dog fit and healthy whilst having fun in a safe environment!
Head over to their page for more information:

Here is Nic's dog, Cora, getting on really well at her first session! 🐾🥰
I love my dog because...
We all love when our dog's greet us after a busy day or snuggle up to us when we are feeling down.
But we all know every dog is different; we'd like to know what makes your dog stand out!🧡
Comment below why you love your dog with a photo, if it's their cheeky behaviour or just that they are so darn cute!
✨Golden Oldies October ✨
This is Purdey one of our golden oldies at 12 and a half years old 💖
Purdey suffers from cushing's disease which is why we tend to see her in often for blood samples and medication checks. Cushing's disease is a fairly common problem seen in middle aged to older dogs. She is also on vetpro joints and mobility which is a supplement to ease joint pain, which older dogs often suffer from.
Neither of these effect her coming in to the practice and she still greets us with her happy feet and cheesy grin 🐶
Are you worried your golden oldie may suffer from joint pain or other conditions developed with age? Book an appointment with a vet for some advice 😊
Yesterday we had the cutest couple of brothers in. Say hello to the cheeky Hamish and Brodie, give them a wave😉
⭐️❤️STORY OF THE WEEK❤️⭐️
This is Frodo.
Frodo was brought in today by his owner who had noticed some subtle changes in his health. He had been losing weight, losing a lot of hair and has recently started begging for food. After a full examination by the vet, a simple blood sample was taken by one of our qualified vet nurses which was tested within the practice. Within half an hour we were able to diagnose Frodo as being hyperthyroid. Hyperthyroidism is the medical term for having an overactive thyroid, which leads to the above symptoms. If left untreated these symptoms can become very severe and the cat can become very unwell. There are a variety of methods to treat hyperthyroidism, including surgery, radio-active therapy, medications and food. This client has chosen to medicate orally, here is Frodo enjoying his first dose. If you are worried about your cat displaying these symptoms please contact the surgery for an appointment.
