I went out on Saturday evening to a “non horsey” event. Eventually found someone who had horses to extend my conversation!

I just wanted to share with all the riders who worry about the “what ifs”. Sometimes, you have to just trust yourself and your horse.

The precious one is back in work and I’m building his fitness up slowly. I always hack in company as he’s an ex-racer and I’m not sure if he’s ever been on his own. He’s also not the bravest and his brain doesn’t always communicate well with his legs.

Today, I decided we would be brave and have a walk up the lane on our own. I’m a “what if” worrier, but there was someone on the yard to scrape me up and catch the Bean if it all went wrong!

He was a little star! Sometimes you just have to turn that nervous energy into something positive.

Always be safe, but we need to push ourselves sometimes to achieve our goals.

Bean and I don’t do rain, which can be challenging with our weather 🙉
When I brought him back into work after our winter break, I decided we would brave drizzle! I found this lunge rug, which means I don’t have to get my saddle wet, Bean stays mostly dry and I don’t have to climb out of all my wet weather yard gear.
We tested it last night - and it’s genius! Kept him warm and dry, didn’t move, quick and easy to put on. Winner!
He still gave me his “bad parent” look.
