🩵Can you guess what breed Romeo is?🩵

🐈‍⬛Today we had not so little Romeo in for his castration! Romeo throughly enjoyed his stay with us today and woke up and made some bread 🧑🏼‍🍳🐈. It’s very important to get cats castrated to prevent future problems. If you have any questions or would like to book your cats in give us a call on 📞01691 622201.🐈

Permission to post from Romeo’s owners 🐾🐾

😊 No longer looking for a home 😊

We have a lovely stray kitten looking for a special home. She is very friendly and loves attention. She has an injured front leg, which we can discuss more with anyone who is interested in homing her, but there is the possibility that this leg will need to be amputated when she is older. Therefore a special home is needed to account for this ongoing care. Please phone 01691 622201 if you are interested

🙌 Found a new home now 🙌

🐈We have a lovely cat to be rehomed🐈‍⬛

This lovely female cat has been brought into us as a semi-feral for spay. However, she is unable to go back to where she was living. She isn’t yet litter trained, but could soon be trained. She would ideally be an outdoor/indoor or outdoor cat and requires microchipping prior to leaving us 💉. She is very friendly, but obviously still getting used to human attention so would advise ideally being at an adult or older children household 🏡. She has recently been spayed but not yet vaccinated. If you are interested in coming to meet her (currently named Hazel) please do get in contact with us via Facebook or call us on 01691 622201! 😊

☀️Let’s talk heat stroke☀️

With some hot weather throughout the UK it is a good time to consider what this could mean for our pets. Heat stoke is a potentially life threatening condition for our furry friends during the summer and with this post we hope to educate and inform you on what heat stroke is and how we can treat and prevent it😎!

⚡️What is heat stoke?

Heat stoke is a condition that occurs when they body gets over heated to 39 degrees Celsius or above 🤒. Heat stroke can cause multi-organ failure in our pets if untreated within minutes‼️. Normal temperature varies from species to species but generally it ranges from 38.3-38.8 but to clarify please contact your vet for a more accurate range depending on your pet🐶🐱🐰🐹.

⚡️How can we prevent heat stoke?

Heat stoke can be prevented in many different ways some more easy that others depending on your pet of choice! they are the following:

☀️ Walking pets before 8am and after 7pm 🕖
☀️ Keeping fresh water available🚰
☀️ Keeping up with grooming/trims for our longer fur breeds
☀️ Making good use of shaded areas😎
☀️ Prevent walking on hot paths🐾
☀️ Providing frozen treats 🧊
☀️ Use of fans or cooling mats🥶
☀️ Harnesses over collars for easy panting🦮
☀️ Swimming can also b a good way of cooling down 😎

⚡️What are the signs of heat stroke?

Heat stroke can be displayed by your pet in many diffrent ways but these are the most common: excessive panting and drooling (especially for our flat face friends e.g pugs and frenchies), red gums, increased breathing volume and effort, vomiting, upset stomachs, rapid heart rate, collapse and seizures. Some breeds are more susceptible to this condition such as our flat face breeds e.g pugs and frenchies and our long hair breeds e.g golden retrievers.

⚡️What to do if you suspect heat stroke?

If you suspect heat stroke it is crucial to get your pet to the closest vets, even if you are not a regular client as this is an emergency situation! This condition can deteriorate very fast within a matter of minutes so speed is crucial for the best results. During the process of noticing the early signs, pet cooling should begin with a fan if available, applying taped water to your pet under the chest around the neck between the thighs (⚡️Cold water should be avoided as this can cause the body to go into a state of shock⚡️). Allow them to drink little and often, ensure they are in the shade on a cool floor and last but not least if a car journey is required air conditioning is essential!

☀️We hope you feel educated when it comes to early signs and advice for heatstroke and feel confident in how to care for your pet safely while enjoying the sunshine!☀️
