This fulltime role will encompass a wide range of tasks including helping to maintain our high levels of infection control, keeping on top of daily tasks and some contact with animals in our care.

May suit a school leaver or someone with a keen interest in joining the Veterinary profession.

Salary varies depending on experience £18,304-£23,920 FTE.

The workload will be primarily surgical with orthopaedic, spinal and soft tissue surgery cases being accepted.

We are looking for Registered Veterinary Nurses to join our practice to help care for our in-patients overnight.
These positions are ideal for nurses who have an interest in post-surgical care. This encompasses many interesting aspects of nursing- notably analgesia, physiotherapy, fluid therapy and general husbandry. Additional training for our varied surgical caseload will be provided where required.
Even though night nurses spend part of their time working alone, they are very much part of the team and are hugely appreciated by every member of the team and the owners of the pets they are caring for.
Our practice strives to constantly offer the best care possible and ongoing CPD along with studies for further qualifications will be encouraged and supported.
We recognise the importance of a work life balance and are open to flexible working, job sharing and will consider a wide variety of working requests, for this reason we don't have a salary or required hours advertised.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced receptionist to join our new practice and friendly team in Ellon.

We aim to create an environment where team members feel valued and engaged in the practice. Professional development and a team approach to constantly improve client and patient experience will be encouraged.

You will be responsible for greeting clients and pets, answering the telephone to clients and referring vets, registering clients, booking appointments, monitoring emails, taking payments and dealing with insurance claims.

Working in a new practice is an incredibly fun and rewarding time where ideas and creativity are welcomed, though a degree of adaptability is a useful attribute to have at this time.

We recognise the importance of a work life balance. Shifts will be from Monday - Saturday working between the hours of 8am - 7pm on a part time basis.

The installation of our brand- new CT scanner is complete. The scanner utilises the latest technology to provide very high image quality.

The CT will allow us to investigate a wide range of conditions, which amongst others, include spinal investigations, forelimb lameness workups, challenging fracture repairs, cases requiring 3D printing, liver shunts and tumour investigation.

We are now accepting new cases requiring this specialist imaging modality.

We have reached the end of our first week at Cùmath Pet Surgeons. We would like to thank all the pet owners who have entrusted us with their pet’s care, and the primary care vets who recommended us to treat their cases.

The support we have received is greatly appreciated.

We would also like to thank our new team, who have worked hard to allow this week to run very smoothly. Everyone has contributed to set a high standard of care at every step of the referral process.

We look forward to meeting new patients over the upcoming weeks.

Our kennel wards are almost completed.
When our kennels were designed we had two main criteria: it needed to be a comfortable environment for pets and it needed to be hygienic. We created three different wards: two rooms for dogs and one cat specific room.
All wards have underfloor heating- this makes it cosy for dogs and eliminates the needs for radiators which are difficult to clean behind. In addition we have air conditioning which will help to maintain the temperature and humidity at a comfortable level- this is important for reducing infection risk post-operatively. We have also installed a warm water shower for dogs to help keep them clean- it’s not quite a spa for pets, but it’s not far off it!
We have a variety of sizes of kennels, allowing us to accommodate every size of dog from a teacup Chihuahua to a Great Dane. Our cat ward has a means of extending the cubicle size for cats that need to stay in for longer periods of time too.
The kennels have been given the seal of approval from Puzzle the Poodle. We expect all our treated pets to feel equally at home in our clean, cosy kennels.

We thought it was time for an update on our progress at Cùmath!
Our renovation project is progressing nicely, and we are looking forward to helping pets in need of surgery at the start of 2024.
An advanced ventilation system for our operating theatres has now been installed. Our bespoke design will help ensure a clean environment is present for surgery and reduces the risk of post-operative infections. It works by ensuring there is a high rate of change of clean filtered air in the room, which along with careful positioning of fans ensures that only clean air meets the surgical site. It also creates a higher air pressure in the theatre which prevents any unfiltered air from entering when the door is opened.
This, along with other design features intended to reduce infection rates, and our team’s surgical and nursing expertise, has given us the confidence to offer a surgical warranty on our most common operations. We hope this warranty is never needed, however if any surgical complications occur within the first 6 months of eligible procedures, we will fix it free of charge. Full details of this warranty will be available soon.
