๐Ÿฐ This week is Rabbit Awareness Week, and this year's theme is "Happy, Hoppy Homes," focusing on proper housing for indoor and outdoor rabbits.

๐ŸŒŸ Whether indoors or outdoors, rabbits need:

โœ… Space to hop, stretch, and stand up fully
โœ… Shelter from weather & predators
โœ… Tunnels, platforms & hideaways for enrichment
โœ… Daily access to a safe exercise area
โœ… Separate toileting and sleeping areas
โœ… Access to fresh water and good quality hay

๐Ÿก Outdoor Rabbits:
โ€“ A large, predator-proof hutch AND a secure run
โ€“ Shade in summer and insulation in the winter
โ€“ Raised off the ground with waterproof roofing

๐Ÿ  Indoor Rabbits:
โ€“ Bunny-proofed rooms or pens to ensure that they are safe and protected
from hazards (all wires covered and house plants moved).
โ€“ Flooring thatโ€™s easy on their feet
โ€“ Safe hideouts and plenty of chew toys
โ€“ Clean Litter tray for each of your rabbits which is separate from their bedding
area

Give your rabbits the home they deserve ๐Ÿ’š

โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฐ Keep Your Rabbit Cool & Safe โ€“ Watch for Fly Strike! ๐Ÿฐโ˜€๏ธ

Hot weather doesnโ€™t just mean heat risks โ€” it also brings flies, and with them the danger of fly strike a life-threatening condition in rabbits.

๐Ÿฐ What is Fly strike? ๐Ÿฐ
Flies lay eggs on soiled fur, especially around the back end. These hatch into maggots that can cause severe damage very quickly.
Rabbits are at an increased risk of getting fly strike if they are unable to keep themselves clean due to obesity, arthritis, poor dental health or cramped, dirty living conditions.

๐Ÿ‡ How to protect your rabbit:
โœ”๏ธ Check your rabbitโ€™s bottom twice daily for cleanliness
โœ”๏ธ Keep hutches clean and dry
โœ”๏ธ Use fly screens or netting around outdoor enclosures
โœ”๏ธ Speak to your vet about preventive treatments
โœ”๏ธ Watch for signs: lethargy, loss of appetite, a foul smell, or maggots

Fly strike can develop in just a few hours โ€” if you suspect it, contact us immediately.

Letโ€™s keep your bunnies safe, cool, and happy this summer! ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿพ BBQ Season is Here โ€“ Keep It Safe for Your Pets! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ”ฅ

As you fire up the grill, donโ€™t forget your furry friends! BBQs are fun for us, but they can pose some serious risks to pets.

Here are a few quick tips to keep tails wagging safely:

๐Ÿšซ No bones, skewers, or corn cobs โ€“ they can cause choking or blockages
๐Ÿ— Keep food out of reach โ€“ especially onions, garlic, grapes & chocolate
๐Ÿ”ฅ Watch the grill โ€“ curious noses and hot surfaces donโ€™t mix!
๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Secure your bins and tidy up โ€“ the smell of leftovers is tempting but dangerous.
Tinfoil, clingfilm, skewers and grease-covered stones all pose health risks.

Enjoy the sunshine and sizzle, but keep your pets cool, calm, and safe! ๐Ÿถโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ๐ŸŒผ Happy World Bee Day! ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ

Today, weโ€™re buzzing with appreciation for the tiny pollinators that play a huge role in keeping our ecosystems healthy and our plates full. ๐Ÿฅฆ๐ŸŒธ Without bees, thereโ€™d be no apples, almonds, or even chocolate! ๐Ÿซ

Letโ€™s celebrate by:
๐ŸŒป Planting bee-friendly flowers
๐Ÿšซ Skipping pesticides
๐ŸŒŽ Supporting local beekeepers
๐Ÿ’› Spreading awareness

Every little action helps protect the bees that help feed the world. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’ช

๐ŸŒฟ Grass Seeds Alert!! ๐ŸŒฟ

As the weather warms up, it's important to be aware of the hidden dangers that can harm our furry friends during outdoor adventuresโ€”grass seeds! ๐ŸŒพ These tiny seeds can easily get lodged in your animals ears, paws, and even their nose, causing discomfort or serious infections if left untreated. ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’ก How to protect your pet:

โœ…Check paws and ears regularly after walks, especially if youโ€™ve been in grassy or
weedy areas.

โœ…Trim paw fur to minimize the chance of seeds getting caught.

โœ…Keep your dog on paths or clear trails where grass seeds are less likely to be a
problem.

If you notice your dog shaking their head, scratching their ears, or limping, it could be a sign of a grass seed stuck inside.

Contact us if you're concernedโ€”early treatment can prevent bigger issues. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’š
