Happy Hounds Adventures Supportive scentwork, parkour & brain games. Having fun to create calm, confidence & a perfect bond. It can be done anywhere, and at any age.

The activities we offer help to build confidence and focus in your dog, working their brains and their bodies. Mental stimulation is so important for a dog's welfare and can make so much difference to their lives. It can help with various behaviour problems and helps strengthen the bond between you and your dog leading to a much better relationship. The great thing about scentwork is, it allows yo

ur dog to be themselves and let their personality shine. We work in partnership with our dogs, supporting them when necessary and creating a super sniffing detector team! Mantrailing can be particularly helpful for dog's who are fearful of Humans, and also those who are dog reactive as they work individually without other dogs around them. This is where we are teaching the dogs to search for a 'missing' person. Parkour is not only fun, but again can help with behaviour issues as some of the exercises are proven to change neural pathways in the brain. The dogs learn to navigate on to Exercises, over, under, around various different obstacles which are done slowly, giving the dog a chance to focus, and think. The exercises help build strength, body awareness and confidence. All of the activities we offer are a fun way to build a better relationship, and have a well balanced (excuse the pun) dog. We offer Scentwork, Parkour, Mantrailing (Lost & Found), 'Sherlock Bones' events, online trivia for you and your dog and a whole lot of fun

Join me for some Winter wags & wellness in my MagnifiScent Movement classes which are a combo of parkour and simple scentwork.

Engaging activities like parkour and scentwork are not only physically tiring, mentally too, leaving you with a tired, content dog.

Parkour is a great way for your dog to learn how to navigate different obstacles slowly and in control.
It's a great activity for them to build strength, use their brain, and help them to focus.

What dog doesn't love to sniff?!
Scentwork is another great way to tire your dog using their brain.
It boosts their confidence and reduces the stress hormone, cortisol, so is great for shy or nervous dogs.
It helps excitable to dogs to harness their energy and improve their focus and sense of calm.
It increases endorphins - the happy hormone, so it makes them happy 😊

Sessions are twice a month at Redmere.
Tuesdays 10:30 - 11:30am.

It's taken Daisy a VERY long time to learn to pick something up and for ages we've just had a nose touch or quick mouth grab.

Daisy takes a lot longer than Fen to learn something new. She needs a lot of encouragement and feedback or she will really lose confidence.

For the past 2 or 3 weeks in our Trickdogs Training class she's been working towards 'tidy your toys'.

No class tonight but Daisy and Fen didn't get the memo so we practised, and she can now take her object from one dish and put it in another 🙌👏

This Tuesday, 6pm, Sherlock Bones Big Night In !! ONLINE!

This will be a combo of ALL of my specials. Sherlock Bones, pop quiz, gameshows, you name it I'll be bringing it to Zoom tomorrow night.

All you need to bring is a dog, some treats, a sense of humour and your favourite tipple.

No experience necessary.
It's the opportunity to have some fun with your dog, do some training, practice some tricks with absolutely no pressure at all and have a laugh with everyone online.

6 years ago, we rescued this little treasure from Many Tears Animal Rescue

The festive season is always tinged with sadness as we lost Merlin 14th Dec '14 and Harry 13th Dec '17.

Fen brought us the magic and sparkle we all needed (and, of course, lots of new lessons to learn, as they do) so we could smile again.

A 'breeder', a home, back to the 'breeder', then to rescue where they named him Bounce, then to foster where they named him Slinky, then finally, his forever home at 14 weeks old, with us in the Cambridgeshire Fens, so we named him Fen.

He was everything we needed and more 🧡

10 years! Since I became an Accredited Talking Dogs Scentwork Trainer.

So many happy dogs and handlers since then, and still we continue to reap the benefits and spread the joys of scentwork.

Scentwork doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, your dog loves it when it's not.
What it must be is fun and supportive.

Mine and my dogs lives have been much richer since I did my first ever scent workshop with Talking Dogs Scentwork and my wingman, Harry. Thank you for all you taught me 💜🐾

Fen waited aaaaaaages for his class with Trickdogs Training this evening.
He was ready for his 6pm class from 5:30pm, not realising the clocks had changed so he was an hour early 😏

Thankfully, my dogs don't worry what time it is in the morning. We all love a lazy start to the day here 😍

My Daisy and Fen.
They've been appearing in classes and a few people have been asking about them, so here's a run down so you can see how far they've come.

Both rescued from Many Tears.

🌼 Daisy - 9ish years old, we don't really know. We've had her 8 years, were told she was from a puppy farm.

😡 Ferocious beast, would unleash kill mode to protect herself, could be nowhere near another dog in classes, especially black ones, lived for hunting, escaping our garden and couldn't give two hoots about scentwork.

💜 Over time, through scentwork initially, we built a relationship and then began to do more together, finding our love of parkour. She learnt that you didn't have to kill when worried and is now the sweetest, most gentle little girl (but would unleash kill mode if required 😇).

🌾 Fen - 6 years old. Went from a 'breeder' to a home, back to 'breeder', to rescue, to foster, to us. By then, he was just 14 weeks!

🤯 Once adolescent it was clear he did not trust humans. We couldn't fuss him without him reacting, petrified of children, trusted nobody. His mind would blow everytime he went for a walk and he definitely could not be tethered in a class or stand still while I had a conversation.

🧡 We spent A LOT of time with my friend/colleage from Leadchanges to help him cope with life and reduce anxiety. We made peace with having a dog that doesn't want fuss. He ALWAYS loved his scentwork and parkour, and searching for people has helped him massively.
Now, we all share cuddles. We are the only people that can do this, and he will be your best friend too if you promise not to touch him, bend over, come too close to us or sit down in our house 😍

The narrow beam. A requirement in the Parkour Pro Title. In my Parkour classes you have the opportunity to work towards titles - Novice, Intermediate and Pro, receiving a dog tag on completion of each title.

Why train with me? 🤸‍♀️I am a qualified Fitness Instructor, Exercise to Music instructor and Yoga teacher for Humans. I have been in the fitness industry for over 20 years. 🐾 For the dogs I am a qualified Parkour Instructor and Canine Conditioning Coach (among other things 😉). 😁 I specialise in injecting fun and laughter in to all of my classes so I guarantee you will have fun. 🚶The classes are a circuit style, with different difficulty levels offered, meaning you are able to work at your own pace. 🥰 Doing things with your dog is SO much more fun than doing them on your own. 🙌 Release those happy hormones and shed some pounds with Happy Hounds 😉 💻 Online classes can be in a group or 121. Fen loves learning new tricks. This started with 'Tidy your toys', then we started to 'hang out the washing' and today we put it together. Props to Trickdogs Training and Trickstars University who are our inspiration, motivation and great teachers 🥰

Good handling vs bad handling. If you've ever done scentwork with me you will have hopefully understood the importance of being a good handler, working with your dog and being thorough when searching together. We did a quick bit of scentwork this evening and I've tried to show you the difference in being a good handler vs a bad handler and how not being thorough can result in missed finds.
