🦄 Did you know I am beginning MSc Animal Chiropractic at McTimoney College in January?
So what is the difference between what I do now, and what I am training to do?
I am currently trained as an ‘Equine Therapist’ which covers massage, stretching, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the muscles.
💪 Horses are no different to humans, and are prone to muscle ache due to;
🐴 Cold & Damp Weather
🐴 Increased Workload
🐴 Intense Workload
🐴 Stress and Anxiety
🐴 Old Age
🐴 Lack of Movement (i.e being stabled in the winter)
I help to relieve the above issues by increasing elasticity, flexibility and strength of the muscles using various techniques. This allows for more movement, increased performance and keeps your horse comfortable.
A McTimoney Chiropractic Practitioner treats inbalances and abnormalities in the spinal system, for example if your horse is exhibiting a ‘wonky pelvis’ 🦴
Both theraputic techniques are equally important, as one system cannot be stable if the other has imbalances. The muscles can pull a freshly- treated spine out of place, and visa versa.
As of right now, I recommend that I work alongside treatments from a McTimoney Chiropractor. By the end of my Masters at McTimoney, I can offer both specialties in one appointment😊
The duration between appointments, by both a massage therapist and a McTimoney chiropractor, is fully dependant upon age, workload, physical condition within each appointment, to name a few factors. As a general guidance, I recommend 6 - 12 week intervals between massage and maintenance treatments🦄
⭐️Please do not leave an appointment until your horse has an issue - theraputic appointments can PREVENT injury and ailments, as well as help rehabilitate them.
