And just like that, I’m back!

Sadly whilst I was away I heard the news two of my beautiful customers Obi and Stan passed over the rainbow bridge.
So sorry for their family’s loss and I know I will certainly miss seeing both their beautiful faces.

Please please please do not walk your dogs to their grooming appointments if the temperatures are above 23°. I would rather reschedule and work outside working hours than have your dog collapse with heat stroke.

I appreciate your understanding on this, my priority is your dog’s safety!

With the temps rising, I just wanted to share the following info on walking your dogs just in case anyone needs any clarity ……

It’s generally safe in temperatures of up to 19°C (68°F) but be careful when the mercury rises above this. Even at temperatures as low as 20°C (70°F) dogs are at risk of heat stroke.

Heat stroke in dogs is essentially a high temperature not caused by a fever. It occurs when dogs are no longer able to self-regulate and keep their temperature at a comfortable level. Check out the handy infographic below to know when it’s safe for your dog outside.

I know I post often about how much I love my job, but days like today I don’t love it so much.

When you send me that text to say that one of my handsome hounds is going to sleep, it means the world that you felt I should know but what you don’t see is how I sit and cry.

I don’t just wash and cut your dog’s hair. I love them with all my heart, I talk to them, I tell them how gorgeous they are, I comfort them when they are scared and I cuddle them for being brave when they see their Mum and Dad walk out that door.

This evening I received the text I’ve been dreading for a long time, Molly my longest standing customer of 14 years is going to sleep tomorrow. This has broken me and I’m so sad. I’m sad for her family who love her dearly ….. thank you for trusting me with Molly for so long.
I’m sad that I won’t see her gorgeous face again.

Cuddle your babies tight and show them how much they are loved.

Awwww gorgeous Bobbie, 5 month old Miniature Goldendoodle had her first ever groom today. She was a super star and so sleepy afterwards.

So lovely to see her Mummy and Daddy again after loosing their first furry baby a while back. It means a lot when customers come back after a loss with their new additions.

Ted, I groomed you since 2014 and loved you dearly, it’s been an honour getting to know your family. I promise to look after Obi when he visits.

Wilson, you were with me almost from the start of my grooming business journey. You joined me in 2011 and your name was so very special to me and as much as you didn’t like grooming, you were always the perfect gentleman and I loved you lots x

Wilby - Saluki Cross, had his first ever groom today. He was a timid boy when first rescued so we weren’t sure how he would get on today, but he absolutely nailed it! The tail was wagging and the ears were doing all sorts!

After a very wet and soggy dog walk this morning we walked home via Ely Market Square to get a cuppa to warm up. Which has where we discovered Macs Munchies 🐾

Wow wow wow, I’ve never seen so many fabulous safe, healthy and fun dog treats! Items can be made wheat, gluten or dairy free to suit sensitive tummies! They even have a catalogue of dog birthday cakes! Brilliant 👏🏼

First of today’s gorgeous newbies, Lola - Border Terrier had her first Handsome Hounds hand strip and the hair came out beautifully. Lola has regular Emmi-pet teeth cleans so knows the drill. An absolute super star 🌟

To finish off a fabulous weekend in Cheshire with family we popped in to Nantwich this morning and visited a dog cafe.
Charlie & Co. is the most incredible dog friendly coffee shop where dogs are the centre of their thoughts and imagination. The detail gone into the decor, the cutlery and creating a great atmosphere is incredible.
The added bonus is the dog grooming spa on the second floor.
Hands up if you think Ely could do with this? 🙋🏻‍♀️

So back in January I mentioned Handsome Hounds was having a refurb, 12 weeks later 😩😩😩😩😩😩 it’s finally done!!!!

Yes there were tears of frustration but it’s all done now & I’m bloomin over the moon!
Extra insulation and under floor heating all good to go for Spring 🤣🤣 actually, let’s just say I’m organised for winter!!!!!

Thanks to my husband for his hard work making this happen 🥰
