❄️🐾 Stay Warm and Keep Those Paws Protected! 🐾❄️

It’s freezing outside, and I hope you’re all staying cozy in these arctic conditions! A huge thank you to everyone who braved the cold this week to bring your lovely doggies in for a pampering session. 💙

Cold weather can be tough on our furry friends, especially their paws and pads. Snow and ice can dry them out, causing cracks and soreness. Plus, hair in their pads can trap debris, snowballs, and grit, which can freeze and make those winter walks super uncomfortable. 🥶

That’s why keeping the hair in their pads regularly trimmed is so important. It helps prevent discomfort and makes spotting any issues much easier. Let’s work together to keep those winter walks comfy and enjoyable for your gorgeous doggies! 🐾💙

Stay warm, and give your dogs an extra cuddle from us! 🐶✨

It’s Day 24 of our Advent Calendar! 🎄 Today, we’re wrapping up the countdown by reminding you of all the holiday hazards for your dog. With all the festive fun, it’s easy to forget some of the dangers that come with this time of year. Keep your furry friends safe by watching out for these common Christmas hazards:

❌ Antifreeze & road salt – Harmful if ingested.
❌ Poinsettias, holly & mistletoe – Toxic if eaten.
❌ Potpourri – Can cause vomiting, diarrhea, or choking.
❌ Christmas lights & small decorations – Choking and blockage hazards.
❌ Cooked bones – Can splinter easily and cause internal injuries.
❌ Chocolate & nuts – Toxic and can cause serious health issues.
❌ Christmas pudding, mince pies & stollen – Contain dried fruits like raisins and currants, which are toxic to dogs.

We hope you and your pets have a safe and joyful holiday season! 🐾

🎄 Fun Fact 23: It's Almost Christmas! 🎄

Did you know that many dog breeds have special adaptations to help them survive in cold weather? 🐾 For example, the Siberian Husky has a thick double coat that insulates them from the chill, while their paws are covered with dense fur that acts like natural snowshoes, preventing frostbite. ❄️ Their coat is so effective that they can pull sleds in freezing temperatures for hours without showing signs of cold stress! 🐺

Fun Fact: Dogs Can Detect Diseases in Humans

Did you know that dogs have an incredible sense of smell, so powerful that they can detect diseases in humans? It’s true! Dogs have been trained to identify a wide range of medical conditions, including cancer, diabetes, and even epileptic seizures.

Their sense of smell is 10,000 to 100,000 times more sensitive than humans, allowing them to detect chemical changes in a person's body long before symptoms appear. For instance, dogs can detect the presence of cancer by sniffing out volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are released by tumor cells. Similarly, they can sense low blood sugar levels in people with diabetes or even sense an impending seizure.

This remarkable ability has made dogs valuable companions in medical fields, where they can alert people to potential health risks.

⭐️🐾Day 19 of Advent Fun Facts 🐾⭐️

Did you know that greyhounds can actually run faster than cheetahs? While cheetahs are often celebrated as the fastest animals on land, they can only sustain their top speed of 70 mph for about 30 seconds. It's all about those short bursts of speed!

On the other hand, greyhounds may not reach quite the same peak speed (they can run up to 45 mph), but they have incredible endurance and can maintain that pace for much longer up to 7 miles! Their streamlined bodies and long, powerful legs make them some of the fastest long-distance runners in the animal kingdom.

So, while a cheetah might beat a greyhound in a quick race, the greyhound would certainly win if the race was a marathon!

Did you know that dogs have 319 bones in their bodies when they are born? 🦴 Over time, some of these bones fuse together as they grow.

These bones make up their sturdy skeleton, allowing them to run, jump, and play to their heart's content. 🐶💪

⭐️🎄🐾Advent Fun Fact - Day 14🐾🎄⭐️

Did you know that Great Pyrenees dogs have nocturnal traits? These majestic mountain dogs are naturally inclined to patrol their territory at night, keeping a watchful eye over their home and family. Their instinct to protect often leads them to bark at anything they deem suspicious, especially after dark! Because of this, many owners keep their Great Pyrenees indoors during the night to avoid disturbing neighbors.

Take a look at Jasper, one of our regular visitors to the grooming salon. His double coat needs regular grooming to keep him in excellent condition. 🐾

🌟 Advent Day 13 🌟
🎄Christmas is getting closer! 🎄

Fun Fact of the Day:
Obesity is the most common health issue in dogs. 🐾 With all the treats and extra food around during the festive period, it’s important to be mindful of what we're giving our furry friends. 🍖🍪

We do have a set of scales in the grooming parlour, so if you ever want to keep an eye on your dog's weight, they can hop on the scales during their grooming session. 🐕✨ It’s a great way to help monitor their health! 💚
