18 years ago today I received my first payslip as an apprentice dog grooming assistant. (Gosh, I feel old! 🤣)

I worked for two different dog grooming establishments gaining valuable experience, and City & Guilds qualifications for dog grooming and CMI management qualifications too. I realised what worked for me and what really didn't!

8 years later, I finally make a huge jump and went self employed. It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride but I am still here. Still loving what I do! ❤️

📌 Last of the newbies for a little while!

Everyone meet Rossi 💙

Rossi belongs to one of my nephews. His dad attempted to groom him last and apparently it took him 3 hours!! So auntie Gracie to the rescue 🤣

Rossi is a cheeky chappy and likes to chat. But he is a really good boy for his pamper.

Everyone meet Chip 💙

Chip has come to me via recommendation from one of my regular customers.

He went to another groomer a few months back for a puppy intro. Unfortunately, it didn't work out and Chip would not allow the groomer to trim his face.

With me, Chip did like to test the boundaries but he's very smart. He learnt quickly that I wasn't letting him leave until I could say he looked like a schnauzer 🤣

Everyone meet Buddy 💙

Buddy was sent to his family by Costa. Costa very sadly passed away last year. He was like part of my family. I'd been grooming him 12 years ish. I knew it wouldn't be long until he sent a pup to bring lots of joy to his family.

So... heres Buddy! Anyone else think he looks like trouble?! 🤣🤣

Everyone meet Bella ❤️

I am sure some of you will remember the very special cockapoo, Buddy, who used to visit me. Buddy unfortunately passed away in September 2023.

Well... Buddy has now sent Bella to be part of their family 😊 and they have made their way back to me 🤗

We are all a little confused about Bellas life before but we do know she has now fallen on her feet, with her new family.

Today, Bella had her first ever pamper with me. She's a very sweet girly but needs some confidence building. I am sure I will see a huge improvement when she next visits

Everyone meet Titch ❤️

Titches owner is the grandaughter of one of my original customers. Titch is the litter sister of little Basil.

Titch had her very first professional pamper today and as you can see she definitely needed a haircut.

Titch is bold and brave and an absolute sweetie. She was sooooooooo well behaved for her visit ❤️🐶

Everyone meet Coco 💙

Coco is my cousins cocker spaniel. We are all a bit animal mad...i blame our grandparents who had 2 cocker spaniels a fish/ frog pond and a garden full of bugs, birds and butterflies 🐶🐠🐛🐦🦋

My cousin and his family have been doing a great job getting Coco used to being bathed and dried. Today was his first professional groom and all that work at home really did show. Coco was an absolute super star ⭐

Its very important to me to be able to ensure I do my best for your pets while they are in my care. Yesterday, I completed a pet first aid training course to keep up to date with the latest advice and training.

A massive thank to Aubrey at Bluebell Pet Care + First Aid for a very informative and interactive day, and to the other ladies on the course who were all super friendly.

I would highly recommend Aubreys courses for any pet professional or owner ❤️🐶

So... what did I get up to on my Christmas break?! 🤔

Of course I thought about the dogs that visit me. Over 40% of my regular visitors are now over 10 years young and many will need adaptions to their visits.

There is always more to learn so on a couple of quiet days, during Christmas break, I stayed in and watched some great webinars.

⭐ Veterinarian/ groomer, Dr. Sophie Bell (www.animallovepetfirstaid.co.uk) does lots of great webinars. Sophie is a fountain of knowledge and her webinars are always a hit with me!

⭐ Lakhi and Kevin from The Pawdinary also held an online webinar, over Christmas break, discussing and demonstrating grooming and handling elderly dogs. Lakhi is a fab groomer and it's always helpful to watch how others do things.
