Fermanagh Staffie Club Are you sick of the bad rap our beautiful Staffies get, this is a club/page for advice, training, en

I have no opinion either way, with regards to raw food, kibble etc, but one of our members wants to talk about best food to feed his new Staffie, all I would say is a puppy needs to be getting 60% protein, and if first ingredients you are feeding isn't protein unless they are aggressive, it should be, any thoughts?

I feed mine butternut box, they love it

โ—๏ธ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿถ URGENT FOSTER HOME NEEDED ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ  โ—๏ธ

Can anyone provide a temporary foster home for one of our dogs from this coming Sunday for a period of 2/3 weeks please? We are hoping that someone from the Newtownards, Bangor or Millisle area would be able to help so that we can help out with walking etc but we would be happy for someone further afield to assist us too.

The home would need to be dog free, an adult only household with a secure garden and someone at home for the best part of the day.

If you can help please call Julie on 07563 368 589.

PLEASE SHARE and speak to friends ๐Ÿ™

Roxie is looking for her forever home๐Ÿฅฐ

Roxie is 8 months old, female Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She is a little princess and loves people! She is good with children but isnโ€™t keen on other dogs, so a home with no other dogs she would benefit from. She is housetrained, she needs more lead training so someone to take the time to work with her๐Ÿฅฐ

If you can offer Roxie her forever home please contact us via private message or email ๐Ÿ’œ

As I have 4 dogs all different breeds, all the toys I have have different values on them, but for Mia her love of tuggers is something else, and ripping things to bits, so her favourite things to do is treats inside cardboard, she loves antlers, I buy sticks that don't splinter from Amazon, she loooves those, we ripped so many tuggers I make my own now.
There are toys called goughnuts now they are expensive, they can be ยฃ30 + but if the dogs manages to get through them, they are replaced for free and its a lifetime guarantee, so are worth it.
What's your dogs favourite thing to play with?

I am going to delete or block anyone trying to sell staffie pups on here, this is not the page for that, there was someone adding comments to each of you individually but it looks a dodgy link so deleted.
If anyone wants a Staffie go through Julie Jenkins, Northern Ireland Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue, she is amazing with how she assesses them, spends time with them and matches them to the most suitable family.

I;m thinking of taking Fermanagh out, as i don't want to discount any areas, what does everyone else think?

Welcome to everyone who have joined today, I have created this group, as I wanted this page to be able to support each other, learn as much as we can about the breed, help remove the stigma that surrounds these beautiful dogs, but moving forward how we can represent them in a responsible way, meet up, have staffie dates, arrange trials like agility, search and rescue, socialisation, training and lots more, this can include other breeds and supported by Staffordshire lovers, we do not discriminate as that would make us the same as the other people that tend to put this breed down.
Let's educate people, how gentle, loving and caring these dogs are.

So let's get everyone chatting, name, age, why you got a Staffie and pictures
Mine is Mia, she is nearly 11 years old, I had a previous Staffie Robbie he died at 16, he was the most loyal dog ever, I thought we would never get a dog the same again, and then we rescued Mia, she was dumped on M1 after having a litter of puppies and took to Northern Ireland Staffordshire bull rescue, where we were matched with her, she is amazing, I run a doggy day care, I am an accredited Dog Trainer and Behaviourist and I can only just get her to sit, she does what she pleases lol, but I use her as a stooge dog, when dogs are aggressive and she just walks around them calmly as she never reacts, so I trust her to help me with the other dog, fabulous breed

Background of the Staffie

The first recorded name of this dog was the Bull - and- Terrier, the Pit-dog, the Brindle Bull, the patched fighting terrier, The Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Pit - Dog, Its modern name replaced all of these in the 1930's, today the dog is best known as its nickname of Staffie.

The early history of this breed is the same as that of the Bull Terrier. Both were created by crossing Bulldogs with Black Tan Terriers.
The result was a dog with the muscle power of the Bulldog and the intelligence and agility of the Terrier.
This made it the perfect combatant for the staged dog fights that were so popular following the 1835 ban that had wiped out bull baiting.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club was established in 1935, and it was officially recognised by the Kennel club in London in that same year.
Despite the dubious beginnings by the end of the 20th century it was consistently among the Kennel Clubs top ten most popular breeds.
As a modern show dog, the staffie has a split personality, without proper control it may still display its ancient tendency to be aggressive to other dogs (getting its retaliation in first, as the kennel club puts it) but with people, especially Children, it has proved itself to be a delightfully, trustworthy, intelligent and friendly companion (Desmond Morris 2002 Dogs)

In fact in the Stafford community where dogs were used for dog fighting to help the potteries communities earn more money, they were kept in the house to help the families keep warm, and any dogs showing any aggression towards humans were culled, so Staffies are proven to be more human friendly than most dogs.
