Every run is a different adventure and today was no exception! Lots of teams out this morning in different areas, meant we all got to see a different autumnal view today.
To those who joined us this morning 🎉 from beginners practicing those basics, those fine tuning, the ups and downs chasers and those who went the looooong way for a coffee!🔥🎉
For everyone else, racer, rest dayers, adventurers - we hope your Saturday morning was as fun as ours!

Wow what a fabulous weekend we have had here as SC! Lots of runs with our regulars, hills and sprints, exploring the autumnal trails and we had some amazing successes with downhill control and some epic giggles and smiles 🎉🔥

Our work shop was filled with wonder humans and meeting their dogs this morning 🤯. Every single workshop/taster session is different, as is each running team. But we were blown away by the level of understanding each person showed their dogs, very different breeds, sizes, histories and it was incredible to see how quickly each understood and were supporting each other by giving space allowing each human to work at their dogs pace. Thank you for that ❤️

Emailers have been sent out to all those who have contacted us recently regarding Canicross Beginner/Taster Sessions. If you would like to join our workshop weekend check out www.surreycanicross.co.uk for more info!

Our work shops are very friendly and we talk about dogs alot! We hold a two part theory and partical session so we can really have a chance to talk indepth with everyone about Canicross. Lots of chances to ask questions, try on kit, and explore the world of Cani-Sports. The practical is the fun part where you get to put everything you learned into practice and see how you both feel about hitting the trails together.

For all those looking to get fit with their dog, try something different, try a different style of running or are just looking for other people out running with their dogs to join, we hope to see you soon!

Deciding when to incorporate strength training into your routine is a personal decision that depends on your goals and schedule. Aim for two to three sessions per week for at least 30 minutes. Just remember that anything you do is better than nothing. Your session's will be best planned around lighter training days or on rest days.

If you're new to strength training, start with the basics. Add squats and lunges to your routine to strengthen the muscles in your legs. Throw in a few planks to train your core, lower back and hip muscles. Try inverted rows and push-ups to build upper body strength. Add additional exercises each week until you have a complete routine.

Strong muscles absorb force that can damage joints, improve balance, stability, and posture. This can help prevent common running injuries like shin splints, plantar fasciitis and IT band syndrome. 

Strength training can help you to build a stronger base from which to spring, which can add to your stamina and power. 

Some exercises that can help you improve your strength, ESPECIALLY single leg exercises are hugely beneficial for running, as each leg works individually to absorb impact, aid balance and work as a springboard to propel you forward.... the stronger the legs the more force you will create 🙌

Single leg deadlifts
Single leg Romanian Deadlift
Bulgarian split squat
Lunges
Heel raises
Single leg glute bridges
Crunches
Planks...... a strong core is essential to supporting your running, helps you run more efficiently, using less energy and oxygen to maintain a certain speed. This means your heart and lungs work better together, allowing you to run at a lower intensity for longer. 

Any advice needed just shout, happy to put together an effective & efficient circuit to support your runs...

Happy Thursday all and what a beautiful day! We are super proud to announce our latest Canicross Leader Brenda, who recently completed her Cani-fit Canicross Leader Course.

Brenda and Broc joined Surrey Canicross very early on learning the basics, and building up skills, fitness and a love for the trails and all things Canicross. Over the years Brenda has tackled more challenges, events, and more growing in skill and confidence and it wasn't long before she was invited to join the Leaders behind Surrey Canicross Club where she has been an invaluable addtion to everything we do.

This season she has taken the full plunge and join the Canicross Leader ranks and help bring new canicross teams into the world of harness sports.

Big shout out to the lovely Brenda and her canine companion Broc for all their hard work and decidcation. We cannot wait to see what this season holds.

The end of September is near and we have finally had one of those delicious cool mornings to refresh our memories of our winter adventures yet to come.

This year we decided that because the temperatures are normally warm, we would put on a Pre Season Dogless run! Naturally the weather decided to be crisp and cold this morning 😎.

We had a fabulous time, chatted about all things canicross related from goals, to shoes, warm ups, and more. Absolute unicorns out on the trails 💪💪 and everyone felt so much stronger going into this season vs last. 🔥🔥

Well, our End of Summer Club Camp was unbelievably lovely ❤️

We were predicted less than ideal weather, however the weather was more than kind to us! We have spectacular stars, a beautiful sunset, sunrises to make you smile and just feel good.

Happy Tuesday and what a scorcher we have today!
