Regular farrier appointments aren't a luxury, they are a necessity for your equine companion's lifelong welfare.

❔Did you know❔
Every extra 1cm of toe length results in -
🔹an extra 50KG of force acting on the tendons
🔹a -1° drop in sole angle where the DDFT inserts into the coffin bone can lead to a 4% increase in the pressure exerted by the DDFT on the navicular bone

⭐️ NOTICE FOR ALL CUSTOMERS⭐️

Firstly, thank you to the many people who pay on the day already. I really appreciate your cooperation.

Due to ongoing delays in receiving payments there are a few changes to my payment term with immediate effect.

All payment are due ON THE DAY of service, unless discussed and agreed PRIOR to my arrival, as with any service received. (You would not go to Tesco and pay for the products 2 weeks later!)

If these delays continue I will have to stop accepting bank transfers, and will accept cash or card at the appointment only.

Repeat late payers will result in refusal to attend your horse unless payment is recieved prior to me starting my journey to you. All payments received after 48 hours of the appointment will now incur a percentage late payment charge, UNLESS properly communicated.

I am happy to discuss and put in place payment plans for those struggling, or be flexible with payment dates, but only if you have discussed this with me in advance to I can plan my own finances. I cannot continue with late payments with messages ignored and no contact.

Sorry to the majority of you that this doesn’t apply to, I don’t like to do posts like this as the rest of you are fabulous!

A recent example of a hospital plate, used under the vets advice for a traumatic hoof injury resulting in separation of the toe.

The hospital plate is packed with gauze and iodine, which can be unscrewed and changed daily by the owner to monitor healing and keep the area as clean and sterile as possible.

3D pads and packing used to help with collapsed heels. These pads are proving highly successful at aiding heel growth, and therefore improving the HPA, allowing for a more balanced hoof.

Has anyone had the pleasure of finding maggots in their horses feet before?

While maggots are generally harmless as they prefer to feast on necrotic tissue, if it’s important to check your horses feet regularly. If left for prolonged periods of time, once the dead tissue has all been eaten, they will start feasting on live tissue which can cause pain for your horse and foot issues long term!

Luckily these were quickly spotted and removed. Check your horses feet daily!

Imprint shoes 👟

These specialist remedial shoes have been used in this case to help a pony with laminitis. They are heart bar shoes which can be glued to the hoof rather than being nailed on. They help minimise concussion as well as providing support to the bone column which is crucial in managing and providing the best outcome possible for laminitis cases.

A recent donkey trim before and after. Unlike horses, donkeys have longer, narrower, U shaped hooves to help them navigate the conditions they were bred to live in (usually dry, sandy areas).

Donkeys still require regular trimming to maintain hood care. They can be particularly prone to hoof issues when kept in wet or muddy conditions and require close monitoring so ensure they remain healthy. If you keep donkeys, please ensure they are well handled and you pick their feet up regularly - they are usually the most challenging customer of the day😂🫏
