We provide a safe haven for over 600 rescued farm animals, including sheep, pigs, and horses. Farm animals are global. They are not endangered, exotic or wild. They are animals who are born and raised for their meat and milk, and throughout the world very often do this with a minimum of care. Care costs time and money, and they’re not considered to be worth either. They are just another product, a

lthough unlike other food products such as grains, fruits and vegetables, they bleed when they are injured. They die from fear and stress. They suffer distress when their young are taken away from them. They can be kept until they are too old to stand as long as they can still produce milk or offspring. They can then be travelled hundreds of miles, enduring awful conditions, to be slaughtered without pre-stunning. There are very few places throughout the world where farm animals can find sanctuary to be able to live out their lives in peace, to be treated with kindness and respect. We watch these animals become comfortable and confident. We see their characters develop. We admire their intelligence and the way they embrace their peaceful surroundings. We watch them begin to play and finally become content. They form close companionships and soon recognise the people who care for them and look after them. They ask for very little. For us it’s a pleasure and a privilege to be part of their daily lives. This is why we are here.

☀️ Wow, today was a scorcher☀️.
The temperature hit 33°C here at the Sanctuary, and our small, dedicated team put in a lot of effort during this mini heat wave to ensure all the animals stayed cool and comfortable ☀️🐾🌡️

The pigs 🐷 especially, struggle to regulate their body temperature 🥵 so we made sure to keep their wallows filled and they really enjoy being sprayed with water 💦.
Everyone needed some refreshing showers today 🚿

🐑 Farm Sheepover Experience – 28th June 🏕️

We are thrilled to announce that we have live music scheduled for the sheepover from 6pm until 8pm 🕗.
Local talent Josh Edkins will be joining us to entertain you and have a fun couple of hours 🎸

Twiglet applied her mud face pack this evening and took a short nap outside in the warm evening sun 🥰🐷❤️.

🚨 Due to the ongoing hot and dry weather, our grass has unfortunately stopped growing. This means we are depleting our winter supply of hay and nutritional lick buckets 🚨

We are having to purchase more, but like everything else, prices have skyrocketed, especially since hay will be in limited supply 🌾

Here are some prices to illustrate what we are paying 😱.
Big square bales of hay cost £60 each - we are currently using 4 bales a week.
Nutritional lick buckets are £16.50 each, and we are using 8 of these weekly.
Small bales of hay are priced at £4.50 each - we are using 7 of these a week.

In typical years, this expense is not something we face during the summer months ☀️, but due to the extreme weather conditions, we are forced to supplement the animals because of the significant lack of grass 🌱😩.

Wow, this weekend has really been a scorcher! ☀️
The ducks have been having a great time cooling off in the deep wallows made by the pigs, while the sheep, cows, goats, and other animals have sought out the shady areas in the fields to relax and keep cool. 🥰🐾
We hope all our loyal supporters were able to stay cool and comfortable despite the heat! ❤️💦🥵☀️

Would everyone please wish our beautiful, happy, cheeky little goat, Poppy a Happy 2nd Birthday 🥳❤️🐐

We have another new arrival 🐐🥰.
Little Cocoa, a first time mum has given birth to a beautiful, little baby girl ❤️🐐.

Cocoa was rescued along with Chester a couple of months ago. Both came to us pregnant.
Chester gave birth a few weeks ago to Chip ❤️. We waited patiently for Cocoa to have her turn 🥰 and that day finally arrived 👏🏼.

She is absolutely stunning, her coat is like velvet, we are so in love with them 🥰.

With the hot weather and minimal rain, our grass is becoming quite sparse, so we are all extremely thankful for the veggies we are receiving 👍🏼🐮👏🏼🥰
