😿Pet Grief😿
Losing a cat is a very particular kind of heartbreak.
It’s quiet, constant, and it catches you in unexpected moments — the empty spot on the bed and the silence where a purr should be.
Grief is love with nowhere to go, and it hurts.
I’m feeling all of this very deeply this week after saying goodbye to my beautiful Baxter. He was silly, affectionate, full of personality, a proper ginger character. Remembering his quirks has been both painful and comforting, so I’m sharing a few photos of him being his ridiculous, perfect self. It helps me honour who he really was.
I also want to say THANK YOU for the messages and understanding.
The kindness of my clients, and the comfort your cats have brought me during appointments, has meant more than I can say. Hearing your stories, seeing your cats’ faces, and even the quiet moments while grooming and cat sitting have all helped me feel a little less alone in the sadness.
If you’re grieving a pet, please know you’re not on your own.
And if you’d like to share a memory or your cat’s funniest quirk in the comments, I’d love to hear them. The stories remind us of the joy, love and connection our animals bring into our lives.
Here’s to all the cats we’ve loved, the ones still with us, and all the laughter and comfort they give us along the way.
Cats make the world a little softer. 💛🐾
