Due to an increasing number of no shows and last minute cancellations we will now be requiring:

A 50% deposit to be paid on booking for any new riders or those that haven't ridden with us for a long time.

50% to be paid for any cancellations within 24 hours of the lesson time.

If people don't show /cancel last minute we are unable to re-fill the lesson and have put time/cost into getting the horses ready leaving us short.

🚨Road closure🚨

There is a section of Cowick Lane closed outside West Exe School and will be until 8th November.

It's best to approach the stables from Cowick Lane from the St Thomas side and turn up crabb lane.

You can't turn right at the Sainsbury's traffic lights when coming from the city centre or go straight across from Sainsbury's itself - please add extra time to your journey!

It is also impacting the A bus - details from stagecoach website below.

🐎~ Wanted~ 🐎

We are looking for horses to join our team at Oakland’s, lease/loan/buy or working livery considered.

Ideally between 14.2-15.2hh although other heights considered for the right horse. 8yrs or over, although we would look at a younger if they have had life experience and an old head.

We teach a wide variety of clients from beginners to advanced riders (including the University BUCS teams) so we are looking for a few different types that are schooled to ride on the flat and over fences

The first is a horse who can produce a Novice/Elementary level dressage test and/or jump a 90cm course.

The second is a horse who is maybe looking for a steadier pace of life to teach our up-and-coming riders the ropes

Finally a steady and gentle weight carrier/cob type for our Riding for the Disabled Clients

Any shape or size welcome – ifs, buts and imperfections understood!

We offer a varied life with 24-hour supervision and all year round turnout available. 5* yard with references on request and over 50 years experience in the industry. Many options if finances are a consideration, happy to chat through any questions.

Job vacancy

We have the following vacancy for one full time or two part time members of staff to join our established team

Full Time Groom 5 days a week or 2x Part Time Grooms 2/4 days a week including a weekend day.

We are looking for someone who can work as part of an established team to cover all aspects of horse care/ stable management and take pride in presenting horses for customers, and is capable of assisting with lessons. We provide educational lessons for all ages and abilities from beginner children and adults, disabled riders right through to experienced riders. This is not a riding position but some hacking to es**rt rides is a possibility.

We are more than happy to offer help in training towards exams.

Who remembers this cheeky little chappy??

2 yrs ago The Boss found an abandoned new born foal in the field so he came back to the yard to be bottle fed and looked after, he got plenty of love and attention because who couldn't resist his little fluffy face and he got named Duke!

Fast forward to today Duke is turning into a strapping and beautiful young pony. He is currently in his 'growing up era' and has been turned out in one of the big fields away from the yard with some of his half brothers to live out 24/7.

Don't worry he is still getting plenty of attention/treats with staff going to check on him every day, although he seems to be enjoying hanging out and playing with the other boys and living his best cheeky monkey life!

There will also be our Activity Afternoons for the more experienced children running every Wednesday (see full list below)

We're Hiring - Weekend Instructor

Sadly the lovely Abi is leaving us for pastures new so we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about teaching both children and adults of all abilities, we have wonderful ponies and horses to teach on, along with great facilities.

9-5 Saturday or Sunday with an hour for lunch good rates of pay depending on experience.

Posie 12.2 approx 7yrs old piebald cob mare.

When Posie came to us nearly 3yrs ago she was unexpectedly infoal, she turned out to be a brilliant mum. Since weaning she has been broken and ridden on she’s been on Fun Rides works nicely in an arena with 3 good paces. We have used her in our Riding School she’s done Own a Pony Days with beginners/ Birthday Parties/ Group and Private Lessons with more advanced children. We have used her on hacks both with customers and as an es**rt leading her if necessary and leading from her when needed, good in traffic and open fields. Would suit PC/RC home.

Easy pony to have around loads/catch/farrier/stable/trim. Upto date with worming/farrier/ dentist (barefoot) any member of the family could ride her from children/teenagers and small adults.

Only for sale as we have several ponies on working livery and feel she deserves a home with her own person to love and enjoy her.
