Little Valley Animal Shelter is owned and run by the South, East and West Devon Branch of the RSPCA and is located on the outskirts of Exeter. The Shelter, founded in 1991, supports the work of local RSPCA inspectors by caring for and rehoming over 1000 of the neediest animals from our local area every year. Little Valley’s running costs are in the region of £10,000 per week and, although we are p

roud to be affiliated with the RSPCA, sadly we receive no automatic funding and we therefore have to rely totally on local support from our own community to fund our vital animal welfare work. All animals stay at the Shelter until they are adopted into caring, responsible homes. A homechecker visits every prospective owner and follow-up checks are made to ensure the animal is well and settled. The Shelter can accept a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, aviary birds, farm animals and equines. We also hold wildlife, pending their transfer to RSPCA West Hatch in Taunton. Animals are only put to sleep on veterinary advice or because of incurable behavioural problems.

Betty is a beautiful young (15kg) bull-lurcher , under a year old, who hasn’t had the easiest start in life. Right now, she’s a very worried, shut-down girl, trying to make sense of a world that feels big and overwhelming.

Betty is looking for a very special forever home — one that is calm, patient, and understanding. Most importantly, she needs to live with another kind and confident dog who can help guide her, offer reassurance, and gently show her how to be a dog

Betty cannot live with cats or small animals and she would be best suited to a home with older teenagers who can respect her need for space and approach her with patience and sensitivity.

Betty will need time, routine, and a lot of gentle encouragement, but the bond she will form with her people will be incredibly special. If you’re experienced with nervous dogs and have a loving, quiet home with another dog to help her find her confidence, Betty could be the perfect addition to your family. Please meet the wonderful Ivy; a 3 year old Cane Corso Cross.

Ivy is a sweet and affectionate girl once she gets to know you. While she can be a little shy at first, with a few gentle introductions and a bit of patience, she can become a loyal snuggle-bug who’ll melt right into your arms.

She is currently awaiting an operation to try and repair her "Cherry Eye" however we would like for her to be settled in her forever home before this takes place.

Since arriving in our care, Ivy has made lots of doggy friends, so she could potentially live with other dogs following a successful introduction here at the shelter. She would do best in a calm and understanding home with older teenagers as her more anxious nature means she appreciates a quiet, reassuring environment.

This wonderful girl just needs to be understood and with the time and dedication she will blossom into the perfect companion! If you think this could be with you, please fill out a perfect match form today!

Urgent foster home or permanent home needed for dear Billy. Ideally this home would be fairly local to Exeter.

Dear Billy is nearly 6 years old and sadly he hasn't had the best start in life. As a result Billy is finding it quite stressful here and tends to hide away a lot. He has made friends with some of the staff and Billy does enjoy some attention and fuss when he is brave enough.
Handsome Billy is looking for patient and understanding owners, who will give him the time and space he needs to settle in. We don't have much history about Billy so unfortunately we don't know if Billy will become more confident and sociable once he's settled in to his new home, or if he'll always be a timid and independent soul.
Billy is looking for an adult only home with no other pets.
