Little Valley Animal Shelter, Exeter (RSPCA)

Little Valley Animal Shelter, Exeter (RSPCA) Little Valley is a self-funded branch of the RSPCA based in Exeter, Devon. Reg Charity No: 205154
(318)

Little Valley Animal Shelter is owned and run by the South, East and West Devon Branch of the RSPCA and is located on the outskirts of Exeter. The Shelter, founded in 1991, supports the work of local RSPCA inspectors by caring for and rehoming over 1000 of the neediest animals from our local area every year. Little Valley’s running costs are in the region of £10,000 per week and, although we are p

roud to be affiliated with the RSPCA, sadly we receive no automatic funding and we therefore have to rely totally on local support from our own community to fund our vital animal welfare work. All animals stay at the Shelter until they are adopted into caring, responsible homes. A homechecker visits every prospective owner and follow-up checks are made to ensure the animal is well and settled. The Shelter can accept a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, aviary birds, farm animals and equines. We also hold wildlife, pending their transfer to RSPCA West Hatch in Taunton. Animals are only put to sleep on veterinary advice or because of incurable behavioural problems.

This lovely girl is called Bronte and is about a year old. She is very worried about being in the cattery so is hiding away from us most of the time. We are giving her the time and space she clearly needs so that she can settle in and gain confidence. We do not know much about her past but other cats from the same household are responding well to us so we are hopeful that, once she is feeling better, she will blossom into her usual self. Bronte will need a quiet new home with owners who are happy to bear with her in the early days. She would prefer an adult only household and would benefit from being the only pet.

Gorgeous Shadow is about a year old. She is struggling with cattery life and is spending most of her time hiding away from us so we are respecting her wishes and giving her some space. Other cats from the same household are coping much better and are enjoying fuss and attention so we are hopeful that this is a temporary issue and that she will feel better in time. Shadow will need a quiet new home with owners who are happy to be patient and wait for her to come around. She would prefer an adult only household and would benefit from being the only pet.

Little Penne is about 18 months old. She is a timid soul and is very worried about meeting new people but she has gained confidence with her human friends here and is even enjoying a little stoke. She will need a quiet new home with patient owners who are happy to bear with her while she finds her feet. We don't have information about her past but we have high hopes that, given time, she will turn out to be a friendly girl. Penne would like a home with adults only as she is so sensitive. Further observations will need to be made to determine whether she can live with other pets.

This lovely lady is called Kitkat and is about 13 years old. She is a sweet, gentle girl who is finding the cattery a little scary but her confidence is growing each day. She enjoys fuss and attention from familiar people and even liked to snuggle up on the laps of her previous owners. She would like a quiet new home with understanding new owners who are happy to let her settle at her own pace. She is still an active girl and enjoys exploring the garden and playing with rod toys. We feel that she may be able to share her home with children of Secondary School age, as long as they all get on when they meet at the Shelter. She does not like other cats at all but may be able to live with a calm and cat-friendly dog. As Kitkat is an older lady, she would qualify for our 'Golden Oldies Veterinary Scheme' where we could help towards any age related illness in the future.

😍Meet our adorable duo Hugo and Zoe who are both 9 years old.

Hugo and Zoe are looking for a home where they can stay together as they rely on each other for support and companionship. They both share a bond which is truly heart warming. They cannot wait to get back to some home comforts.

Zoe takes her time to get to know people, but with a slow gentle approach she will soon be your best friend.

Hugo and Zoe can be worried and vocal around other dogs, they would be best suited as the only pets in a quiet home. They will need to be walked at quieter times away from other dogs so they can relax and enjoy their walks.

Hugo and Zoe could potentially live with sensible older secondary school aged children pending a meet here at the shelter.

If you’re looking for double the joy, double the love and double the cuddles, Hugo and Zoe are the perfect match for you.

Milo is a beautiful boy of 3 years old, with a delicate temperament. He is currently finding life at the shelter stressful and as such we are keen for him to find his new home. Milo may be shy but we are confident that in the right home he will come out of his shell and prove to be an affectionate boy. He would do best in a home with no other pets and could live with children of secondary school age.

This handsome boy is called Dexter and is about 13 years old. He is a sensitive boy who can be a little timid initially so will need a quiet new home with owners who are happy to bear with him while he finds his feet. Once he has gained confidence, he is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves fuss from his humans. He is still and active boy who enjoys playing with rod toys and is a keen hunter. Dexter would prefer to be the only pet in his new home. He would also like it to be adults only as he struggles with too much noise and activity. As he is an older boy, he would qualify for our 'Golden Oldies Veterinary Scheme' where we would be able to help with the cost of any age-related illness in the future.

This beautiful lady is called Derby and is about 12 years old. She is a sweet, gentle girl who can be a little timid initially but soon gains confidence. Once settled, she is extremely affectionate and friendly, adoring fuss from her humans! As she is longer haired, she will need some help to keep her coat in tip top condition. Luckily, she enjoys being brushed so it can be a nice way to bond with her. Derby would like a quiet new home without too much going on. She may be able to live with children of secondary school age, as long as they get on when they meet at the shelter. Derby would prefer to be the only pet in her new home. She is still a playful girl and likes to explore the outdoors. She has been known to hunt on the odd occasion. As she is an older lady, Derby would qualify for our 'Golden Oldies Veterinary Scheme' where we may be able to help towards any age-related costs in the future.

Meet Bailey, our lovely 10 year old bundle of joy! Despite her age, she’s a puppy at heart and full of love.

Bailey is incredibly sociable with people and once settled she adores affection. While she prefers her space when it comes to other dogs, she’s a superstar with everyone she meets- our staff and volunteers can't get enough of her! She often enjoys a little break from the kennel by spending time upstairs with the office team, soaking up some extra TLC.

Bailey would thrive in a home with primary school aged children, pending a meet here at the shelter. However, she’s not a fan of small animals or cats- they’re just a bit too exciting for her!

What Bailey dreams of most is returning to the comforts of a loving home. If you think you could be her perfect match and give her the second chance she deserves, please fill out a Perfect Match Form today. Let’s get this sweet girl out of the kennel and into your heart!💙

*RESERVED***
Please meet the beautiful Winnie. She was a little worried when she first arrived at the Shelter but now that she has settled in, her confidence has increased and she is feeling much braver. Winnie is a friendly girl who likes a bit of fuss from her humans but she doesn't have time to stop for long as there is so much that needs investigating and exploring! She is a very active girl and loves to play with her rod toys and roll around in her catnip. In her previous home she was a keen hunter so she would love to live somewhere that has plenty of safe, outdoor space for her to enjoy. We feel that Winnie may be able to share her new home with children of Secondary School age, as long as they all get on when they meet at the Shelter. We would need to get to know her a little better before we could decide about living with other pets.

This beautiful girl is called Khaleesi and is about 12 years old. She is a very interactive cat who likes lots of attention and isn't afraid to ask if she feels she is not getting enough. She can be very vocal and demanding so would like a new owner who has plenty of time to devote to entertaining her. As well as fuss, she also enjoys playing with rod toys and is a keen hunter so her humans may receive the occasional gift of a mouse when she is feeling generous! Khaleesi would like to be the only pet in her new home so that she doesn't have to share the lime-light. She may consider sharing it with a child of Secondary School age but it would depend on how they get on when they meet at the Shelter. As she is an older lady, she would qualify for our 'Golden Oldies Veterinary Scheme' where we would be able to help towards age-related illness in the future.
