Winter Safety for pets ❄️🐾

The colder months brings about many different risks to pet health, including hypothermia, frostbite and paw pad injuries.

Their health and safety comes first, so during extreme weather, our walks may be temporarily paused to keep them safe. If you're booked in for a dog walk, I'll confirm any changes with you directly.

With Christmas coming up, lets talk about rawhide. So many novelty dog treats are made from rawhide - please do not buy! Please don't give to your pets if given one as a gift. Rawhide chews causes intestinal blockages, poisoning and choking.

Why?

⚠️ Rawhide chews are made from cattle or horse hides, soaked in a toxic sodium sulfide to remove the hair and fat
⚠️ Various chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers
⚠️ The hide gets washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white look and remove the smell
⚠️ Artificial dyes and glues are used to form the different shapes and structures of the chews
⚠️ Rawhide chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde
⚠️ The chews go slippery when wet and are extremely difficult to get hold of to save a choking dog
