Taken live from tonight's Beginner (Part 2/3) class.
Working on the all important Voice and Body (V&B) language. Utilising treats and/or toys.
All students did fantastic, very well done all.
Point to note that correct use of the running lines means that the Humans can't subconsciously pull on the leads. This promotes the improvement of the V&B.
Traffic noises, longline, and happy gentle play at their level - being content in the open surroundings (environmentalising)!
Engaged and focused!!👌
Getting in the training, little and often IS KEY - in all areas when out and about with your dog.
Build on a great bond together ❤️💜 #happydogs
Taking the opportunity during our stroll along the beach to get in a little training with our pup.....lots of distractions, but remains focused! GOOD GIRL 🐶💜👌

Last week, whilst on week 2 of our current 'Fun Agility' class I noticed Frank the labrador was snatching at his Human's hand and being fairly 'Over The Top'. This didn't by any means make him a bad boy, but clearly it did make it much harder for her to enjoy his training.
So my advice was to practice the calm focus sequence.
Stage 0 = 'Just Give'
Stage 1 = add positive sound.
Stage 2 = add delay.
This week at class the difference was amazing. So we decided to put up a video of the process. Please note I haven't edited it at all, this is to keep it as real as possible for you to see.
In turn this has prompted me to start a regular 'Training Tips' post.
If you have any questions or requests please just ask.
Have a great week with your wonderful dogs.
Kind regards all.

Goodbye January, hello February ❤️💜!
Week 3 of the Beginners (Part 1) course.
We have now begun the steady process of introducing the running lines.
These are a fantastic training tool, as they prevent the Human from trying to physically control their dog (via the lead), and forces them to begin the process of developing much better Voice and Body (V&B) language.
It's incredibly important that as the training instructor I get across the understanding that we are introducing the line and our goal is to have the dog Confident, Calm (calm enough for the exercise) and Comfortable
with both the equipment and exercise. And NOT a 'Heel' lesson.
It's also important that I don't rush the teams.
We have 3 Beginner (Part 1) Courses running at the moment, and not all were ready for the line work to begin this week.
The video is about 10 minutes into the lesson.
Very good work all, have fun and enjoy the training.
Kind regards
