Emergency Alerts is a UK government system that provides warning and advice in a life threatening emergency.

The government will be running a national test of the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025.

Your mobile phone or tablet may:

•make a loud siren-like sound, even if it’s set on silent
•vibrate
•read out the alert
The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds.

An alert will include a phone number or a link to the GOV.UK website for more information.

You’ll get alerts based on your current location - not where you live or work. You do not need to turn on location services to receive alerts.

Our pets hearing is more sensitive than ours, and dogs that are noise sensitive maybe startled by the alert.

Here are a few things you can do to help your dogs

🐾 Walk in advance to tire them out and help them relax before the alert at 3pm

🐾 Keep your dog and devices in separate rooms and turn on the TV or radio as background noise.

🐾 If you are in a public place keep your dog on the lead. As the alarms can come from any direction it can trigger the fight or flight instinct.

🐾Be mindful that other people may also have chosen a similar quiet place for their dog so there may be more dog traffic than usual

Swift was beyond buzzing about her therapy visit today. It's been 3 months since she's been able to visit anyone 😔 her leg has been pretty good after swimming and massage this week, so we wanted to make the most of it. What a lovely afternoon. Now for lots of rest 💛🖤
