If you’ve ever brought home a luxurious, and probably expensive new bed for your cat, only to find them perched in the cardboard box it came in, you’re not alone! There’s actually a good reason behind their behaviour. 😺

Cats feel safe and secure in enclosed spaces, and a box provides the perfect hideaway. It’s a cosy retreat where they can relax, observe their surroundings, and feel completely at ease. And then there’s the universal cat law: "𝘐𝘧 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘵𝘴, 𝘐 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘴". 🌐

Whether it’s a shoebox or a delivery box, cats simply can’t resist proving they’re the masters of snug spaces!

Honey, our last Christmas guest, headed home today, and we couldn’t resist sharing this photo of her giving us her very best Paddington Bear hard stare! 😂🐈

Christmas at Furballs Cattery is officially wrapped up! We’ve had the pleasure of caring for so many wonderful cats over the festive period, each one their own character and personality.
As we bid farewell to Honey, our last Christmas guest, life at Furballs continues as always, with cats coming and going each day, but Honey’s departure gives us a chance to say thank you to everybody who trusted us with their fur friends over Christmas.

At Furballs, we’re passionate about providing the very best care for your cats - from spacious, multi-level rooms to our 5-star licensed facilities, every detail is designed with their comfort and happiness in mind.

To continue maintaining these high standards, and because of the ever-increasing cost of doing so, we’ve made the decision to adjust our pricing to ensure we can maintain our exceptional standards.

Our new updated rates will include a modest £1 per cat per day adjustment:

• One cat (one room): £18 per day
• Two cats (sharing same room): £30 per day
• Three cats (sharing same room): £39 per day
• Four cats or more: Price on application

As you know we introduced an Energy Supplement to meet the required temperature range of 18–26°C in the cat’s bedrooms, as set by 5-star boarding license regulations. This includes the use of heating to keep cats warm in winter and, during extreme heat, cooling fans to ensure a comfortable environment year-round. For bookings up to 7 days, this will be an additional day’s boarding fee, with pro-rata rates for longer stays.

This small increase ensures we can continue offering the exceptional care and facilities your furry friends deserve. Your trust and support mean the world to us. Thank you for being part of the Furballs family!

Christmas is a time of joy and celebration, but can also bring a few unexpected hazards for our feline friends. Here’s a few reminders on how to keep your cat safe and happy this festive season:

✔️ 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀: Cats love to climb, but a falling tree is no fun for anyone, and a bit of mess to clear up! Anchor your tree securely and avoid putting fragile ornaments on the lower branches otherwise you could find them in full flight off around the room.

✔️ 𝗧𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀: Poinsettias, lilies, and mistletoe might look festive, but they’re dangerous for cats. Try cat-safe plants like Christmas cactus, Boston ferns, or spider plants instead. 🌿

✔️ 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹 & 𝗥𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻𝘀: They might look like fun toys, but tinsel and ribbons can cause serious problems if swallowed. Keep them out of reach.

✔️ 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀: Cats can’t resist a chewable wire! Use cord protectors if possible and keep lights safely tucked away. 🔌✨

✔️ 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀: Chocolate, onions, and rich foods are harmful to cats, so keep your treats to yourself and spoil your cat with a cat-safe snack instead! Dreamies work wonders!
