Sweet Bello is up for adoption. He's an elderly boy (nine years old) with a golden heart.

He's negative for leishmania, ehrlichia, filariasis, anaplasma and babesia.

Sharing this important information gained from a recent course run by Dr Sophie Bell from Animal Love Pet First Aid
Relevant to any DOG OWNER, anyone who works with dogs from DOG WALKERS to DOG TRAINERS, GROOMERS & DOG HOTELS & HOMEBOARDERS & COMMERCIAL DOG DAYCARE CENTRES.

If you have an unspayed dog, it's crucial to be aware there are likely to be Intact dogs offlead in the park or woods, out of your sight, so it's crucial to take extra precautions if you have an unspayed dog. In some countries dogs In heat must be kept on a lead by law.
Knowing when a dog is in heat is often misunderstood.
In a nutshell:

1) An unspayed female can get pregnant up to 21 days after bleeding has stopped.
2) All unspayed females will have phantom Pregnancies. Some show obvious signs, others the signs are very subtle.
3) When in the cycle you spay your dog is critical to get right. If you spay at the wrong time, your dog is likely to be stuck in that cycle state permanently.

📢....A reminder to any customers with dogs who use my daycare or overnight boarding services. This is a strict licencing condition & if I cannot show uptodate requirements for vaccinations or titer test for DHP then I could be at risk of losing my licence.
The 3rd slide here shows what I need.
Please note,
💉we also accept a recent Titer test for DHP only.
💉 We do not insist on The 'Kennel Cough Vaccine' but if you do choose to give your dog this, there needs to be 7 days gap from having the vaccine to using my daycare or overnight boarding services. You can arrange this to be when your dog is off regular daycare or when I am closed for holiday leave. Please also note that giving your dog this vaccine does NOT guarantee your dog won't catch kennel cough.

Fortunately, in the years I have been operating my business (over 7 years) I have never had a case of it here. Being small scale, providing a stress free environment and knowing the symptoms, I feel has massively contributed to this.

What do dogs do on our walks?
They do lots of:
🐾 Sniffing
🐕 Saying hello to other dogs & people we may come across
🐾 They do their business 💩 💧
🐕 They play with each other
🐾 Some prefer to keep themselves to themselves but enjoy walking alongside & with other dogs in the group.
🐕 Discover new & familiar smells, sights & sounds
🐾 They can run, trot along or walk slowly and even stop along the way for some treats or just to sit & watch. We don't do marching walks.
Places we walk: local parks, woodland, along the canal, the meadows, Swinley Forest. Where we walk depends on the dogs, numbers, the weather and location of pick up points and road blocks or restrictions on roads in the area.

We avoid MOD land in the area

📢 A reminder for any Cat owners. Feel free to share. All too often, it's the microchip that can reunite an injured or dead cat back to the rightful owners.
📢 Please ensure microchip contact details are kept uptodate (when you move house or change contact numbers)
📢 Only use a DEFRA approved microchip company.

I use www.petdatabase.com for my Basil. I moved from Petlog as they lost alot of people's data, muddled them up & are not replying to emails fro Pet Data Base which has significantly reduced my confidence in their capabilities for helping to reunite me with a potential stolen or missing dog or communicate any attempts to change details in their database.
All you need to do is get your cat microchipped at your local veterinary practice who will provide you with the chip number and contact the chip company yourself to register the chip.

This dogs went missing on a walk in The Ash area. Please keep a look out & report any sightings with a pic or video if possible.

I am just sharing this poster that was shared to a local fb group. I don't know the owners.

A little reminder: Pls always ensure collars and/harnesses are securely fitted when walking a dog on a lead. There are alot of harnesses out there that are NOT escape proof. Dogs can reverse out of them. Pls only her escape proof harnesses, especially for higher risk dogs, eg newly adopted ones, high prey drive dogs, or dogs who can get be prone to be anxious on walks.

It's been a busy few days
Basil attended Dog fest at the weekend, their 10th anniversary. We were at the 1st dogfest in 2014 when Basil was only 1.

We had to stop at The DogsTrust village to support such a fantastic dog rescue charity and since Basil was a Dogstrust puppy from their Salisbury branch. We didn't make the rescue meet up at 3pm unfortunately as the senior dogs... Basil & Milo, our boarding dog were tired out. I Hope it was busy. We made it to the collie meet up which was lovely.
