Did you know that the law is changing?

Cats in England must be microchipped before they're 20 weeks old.

All owners must microchip their cat by June 10th, 2024.

Microchipping gives you the best chance of a lost/stolen pet being identified and returned to you.

If your cat is found not to have a chip, you will have 21 days to have one implanted, or face a fine of up to £500

Get ahead of the changes and book in today

We are looking for some suitable locations for relocating feral and Semi feral cats.

These locations need to be safe away from main road and have people around at least part of the time to feed them.

If you have friends with horses, contacts at stables, maybe garden centres with land, Prisons, farms etc. could you put the word out please and if they would like to find out more, ask them to give us a call on 01252 334644
Thank you

Thinking about going out and cleaning your patio soon?

We receive a lot of enquiries at this time of year regarding pets who have been exposed to benzalkonium chloride, a chemical found in patio cleaners. Exposure most commonly occurs when the product is applied to a patio and the pet proceeds to walk across the surface before it is dry. Grooming and licking the feet then transfers the chemical to the pet's mouth.

Benzalkonium chloride can cause severe irritation and ulceration to the skin, pads of the feet, tongue and mouth. The extent of this injury is often not apparent until several hours later.

Always make sure any surface is thoroughly dry after cleaning before allowing pets to have access to the area. If your pet does get any disinfectant or patio cleaner on their feet/skin, wash it off immediately. If you notice any of the following signs, contact your vet:
⚠️Drooling
⚠️Burns/ulcers in the mouth or on the feet/skin
⚠️Pawing at the mouth
⚠️Loss of appetite
⚠️Lethargy
⚠️Lameness

Due to receiving a number of cancellations at very short notice last year, which didn’t allow me time to find replacement bookings, I have decided to change my terms and conditions to the following:

"No deposits will be taken.

Customers will be contacted one month before the start of their cat’s stay requesting full payment. Should no monies be received by three weeks before the commencement of their cat’s stay then the booking will be cancelled and the pen will become available to any potential new reservations. All monies received will be non-refundable."

I am very sorry it has come to this and I hope you understand my situation.

It is with regret that I will need to increase my boarding prices as of 1st October 2022. New prices can be found on my website. Unfortunately due to the increase in price of litter, food and more so with energy prices I have been left with no alternative to put my prices up.

Also with the uncertainty of increasing energy prices I have also made the decision to close the cattery after my last Christmas guest has left me and will reopen the last week in February 2023.

I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Come on let’s twist again, like we did last summer… an old song but a good one to remember how to deal with your pets ticks!

Removal is important, a lump will be left behind but thankfully we do not see or diagnose a lot of Lyme disease in our pets (in the U.K.). Symptoms of Lyme disease include - swollen lymph nodes, lameness that may come and go, the joints can be swollen, and their appetite might reduce.

Always use a tick remover. If the head is left behind it may work it’s way out over a couple of days. If I’m doubt get a vet check.

I received a lovely review from Amber Lane:

My two cats boarded with Tanya whilst I was on holiday for a week. The cattery is light, airy, spotless, and extremely secure. One of my boys became unwell whilst I was away and Tanya picked up on a change in him immediately. She called me, took him to our vets that afternoon, and continued to administer medication until we returned.

Tanya's top priority is the health and happiness of all the cats and she is diligent and knowledgeable. I would not send my cats anywhere else and can 100% recommend her services. Thank you Tanya for taking such good care of our precious boys!

As you know I volunteer for Cats Protection. My branch (Farnham, Camberley and Districts) have a number or gorgeous cats looking for their furrever homes. Unfortunately enquiries are few and far between at the moment and as a result I would be grateful if you could share the following link far and wide in the hope that some potential slaves will fall in love and adopt one or two(!). Thank you in advance x

As many of you know I volunteer for Cats Protection, Farnham, Camberley and Districts. At the moment our branch is over flowing with stray, abandoned or signed over cats and we have nearly the same number again on our waiting list. Cats Protection is not alone - all rescues across the country are in similar situations whether rehoming cats or dogs.

With the intake numbers increasing adoptions have been slow - one reason could be that people are on their summer breaks... Please can you share far and wide Cats Protection's page that highlights some of the cats in our care - lets help these cats find their furrever homes!

Do you think this cat is:

1. In no pain/mild pain?
2. Mild to moderate pain?
3. Moderate to severe pain?

Pain causes distress, fear and anxiety in cats, and though we’d never like to think of our cats suffering, feline pain is notoriously hard to identify.

A newly developed Feline Grimace Scale is helping vets to assess pain in cats and to prevent suffering (https://www.felinegrimacescale.com/). Can cat owners also learn to use the Scale? Would you like to be able to use this tool to recognise signs that your cat may be suffering from acute pain?

This week we’ll be bringing you more examples and information about the Feline Grimace Scale and on Monday we'll share the opportunity to take part in this research by reading a short manual with pictures and completing a questionnaire.

No cats were deliberately exposed to pain in the sourcing of these photos
